Last night  I think I heard the attendance as 3903... If true  that is a shameful effort Chch. Need 15000  for Sunday.

Chch should crack 10 on Sunday (Ferns opening match v Netherlands at 1pm might mean some arrive late; although if LOC were smart they would show the first half at least on the screen at the ground). Would hope Round of 16 on Thursday will be sell-out. Germany v either Hungary or Nigeria.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

I can sympathise with anyone who is time poor and looking after their $$ so wouldn't expect most football fans to go to multiple games, but I find it hard to understand anyone who likes football enough to be on this forum to say they won't go to an U20 World Cup game for any other reason, eg I don't support any of the teams?

This has been a sensational tournament so far - let's hope the weather improves to get more casual fans off their couches

work gets in my way because I work from mid afternoon to late at night rules me out of most games . I do get sundays off so that means the only game I can go to is the QF in wellington

there is probably an element of...if you can't make it to both games (4pm because of work) that it's a bit of a ripoff to buy a ticket just for one game.

Have heard a few people say "I don't really want to buy a ticket for just one game"

It's rubbish as the second game is essentially free. But it's just a perception people get with the way it is set up. They value the games at $15 each (or whatever) so don't want to pay $30 for one game.

Allegedly

05 Jun 03:43

Yeah can imagine a lot of people thinking that. I can't get there for 4pm either but going to try and get there for the 2nd half of the first game.

Logistics, the thought of pro-actively sitting through traffic to sit through a sub-par stadium more than 30 minutes from where I live seems like a glorious waste of my small amount of free time.

15000 was good Sunday. Same again Thursday would be tops.

If you mean NHS, take the Northern Express bus, it gets there in 1/3 the time of traffic. Unless you're one of those JAFAs who refuses to use buses on moral grounds and thus spoil it for the rest of us. :)

Went to first game by car. Stuck in Westfield Mall carpark and motorway approach rds for 1 & 1/2 hours afterwards.

Went to second game by bus from Britomart and coming back same way (& leaving just before final whistle) was back at Britomart by free bus 17 minutes later. Result!

When someone in Auckland offers you a lift somewhere and you say "no thanks, bus/train will be quicker", they look at you as if you've sprouted three heads. This culture change will take time to kick in.

I've been to the three group rounds in Wellington getting back to Palmerston North well after 11pm each time. I'm missing the round of 16 games purely because its on a week night and I've already been taking leave for the other games. Will be there for the QF though. I've loved every matchday and as Junior82 said, its almost more enjoyable when you're a neutral and just want to watch a good football game. I really enjoyed watching Austria park their fleet of buses to see if Argentina could get though. It made for an interesting watch. Ghana v Argentina was brilliant as well along with Austria v Panama with their two penalty misses and the two red cards. We may never get another Fifa tournament here again so make the most of it.

Waikato Stadium last Wednesday was brill as much for these guys making whoopee as well as the football -

they don't help themselves when they close the main train line on the opening weekend of the tournament - massive fail.

Also we waited for an hour in town to get a bus to NHS - i'm all for public transport but they are just not setup for the numbers and with NHS where it is i don't think they ever will be.

When I  went by bus to the USA game on Tuesday I caught not the free Stadium dedicated bus from Quay St. but a Northern Express bus to the Albany hub, which I caught straight away at about 4.20, soon as I was at Britomart. It got to Albany in about 20 mins. $5.50 odd well spent. I then walked to Westfield Mall and had 2 pints followed by a Yorkshire roast before walking across to the game with 1/2 hr to spare.

There's a bar in Westfield Albany?

Two. With outdoor seating overlooking the big man-made puddle. I drank some powerful Wngtn brew from Blair St  - Chomp? Hideously expensive.

Is this a special bus put on? Looks like a standard bus from Britomart to Albany takes an hour, according to AT

Do you really blame me for not venturing away from Queen St or Eden Park/Mt Smart in Auckland? It's a massive sharkhole.

That would be one that doesn't use the busway.  A Northern Express or similar is much quicker.

We're coming from the north so hopefully not as many issues.

Finished laughing yet?

Was planning to drive down to the Tron for Thursday night's game, but I've heard the beer they sell at Waikato Stadium is rubbish so I don't know if I'll bother going now.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Merchant Bar & Restaurant @ Westfield Mall, Albany is the one. Showing all U-20 games live on big screen and 2/3 smaller screens. Good selection of beers.

Full of AW supporters when I was there before NZ v USA.

Also, big ad for todays games at Westpac on the back of the Dom Post today. No mention of the fact that they are Round of 16 games, or that they are winner takes all with the potential of extra time and penalties. NZers love a winner takes all game, why the hell is the advertising not pandering to that to boost the crouds?

That's rather disappointing.  Rubbish weather not helping.  Fark off rain and wind.
