Never said otherwise.

Was having second thoughts about going tonight after this morning's tragedy and the weather forecast. Christ I'm glad I went. What an atmosphere after that amazing full field goal and at the end. Awesome to shove one up the Murray Deakers of the world who have tried to talk this team and cup down for the last year. Get fudgeing IN!

Christ. Not to be mean, but: he's still going? (as in commercially, not mortal coil).

Deaker was and always will be a Boofhead. He hated Football with a passion. And yes, this does shove one up his backdoor. His "Shrine" known as Eden Park, taken over by the "Old Enemy". Hahaha

Tuesday Night, might not have 43,000 But it is going to be full and the football voices will be heard singing chants. Sadly it was the only thing missing from that opening game. Well done Auckland for getting in there to support the team, But Wellington will show you how to get behind the team with singing. (Thinks back to that Bahrain game when it was 2 hours of unbelievable atmosphere)

The challenge is Yellow Fever not being in their usual supporter bay though right?  Everyone got random tickets so could be spread out?

No…. We win all games in our group

Napier Phoenix
Heck, we must be favourites to top the group now.

It'll depend on that Norway Switzerland game right?  If Switzerland pumps Norway then we would be likely to nab 2nd.  If Norway wins then it's gonna be goal difference deciding spots.

Holy fudge.  I love Napier Phoenix and the TABs optimism!

I don't disagree as such, but many years as a Nix and Warrior's supporter has made me hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

The Swiss and Norway will most likely beat the Phillipines so goal difference might come into play and we  might not know if we qualify  until the last moment of our game against the Swiss

As long as we finish 2nd in the group and get to play the knock out game in Welly I'll be happy.

I was thinking the same but if they finish 2nd we likely get smashed by Spain.  If we finish 1st we get a runner up in Aucks which gives us a better chance to make the next stage.

But selfishly I still kinda wanna watch us in the round of 16 more.

Unless she bangs in a hatty against Phillipines, then she may single handedly get us in.

We're only at the start of the tourney, anything can happen.

Japan looked pretty slick last night so neither game would be easy. My biggest worry at this stage is that we could end up on six points and still not progress, which would be very cruel.

Why aren't people thinking we beat the Swiss? Pre tournie that was seen as more likely than a W over Norway

Thats pretty harsh, do we apply the same reasoning to our strikers missing good chances?

Oh for sure.  We might have a slight chance against Japan.  After watching Spain live I doubt we could topple them.

Having said that, only seen 1 game this far.  Next 2 games will give us an idea of how awesome our Ferns are.

Yea mate, getting knocked out with 2 wins would be bruuuutal!

Gotta say, with the teams upsetting or coming close to upsetting big teams, this is a damn exciting world cup.

Pre tournie I'd say most people thought we get spanked by Norway.  Anyone's guess what comes out of that Switzerland game!

Actually thought the Swiss looked better in their game against the Philippines, who I also don't think will be a guaranteed win for the Ferns on Tuesday either, than Norway did against us.

But as said above, we've only seen one game. While I hope we do well in the next two, the pessimist NZ football fan in me says we've had our one and done.
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

We want Norway vs Switzerland to be a draw (or a Swiss win to put Norway totally out) presuming we can overcome the Phillipines.

This.  And Percival was quite instrumental in us getting the 3 points, without which GD might mean squat.
Blame one player for one error, you need to blame all players for all errors.

coochiee

Nobody higher than a 4, never seen such brutal ratings.

L'équipe would give them a run for their money. Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud didn't even merit a rating in the World Cup final. They rated the referee a 2. Even Messi only managed an 8.

Yea but the French lost. That’s why they rated things so poorly.

I think Wilkinson will be a big distraction for the Philippines defence allowing others goal scoring opportunities. Would like to see IP Riley score, She deserves a goal.

Yea man.  Even with the thin crowd (it is early) there is a lot of vibes and good energy!

There are a lot of Phillipines fans and they are buzzing too.  This is gonna be epic.
