Well, I'm tossing up between Football Manager and FIFA 10. And from the reviews of PC Fifa 10 on here I'm leaning towards Manager. I've got Fifa 08 anyway, with the whole A-League squads up to date and most others as well.

Fifa10 if you want to play as a player, manager is only as a manager. Xmas is coming, time to drop hints to family members and get them both!!

Its the sh*tty fitness coaches, but yes he's very underrated. Remember the ratings were made before he even played a match for us.

My favourite part of the game is building up average teams and getting them promoted. The worst part is when the ball hits the ref or when he gets in the way which ultimatly lost me a final, well at least it adds a sense of realism to the game.

Also the refs are WAY smarter on 360 compared to PS2. eg- on PS2 you can fully waste a player with a wreckless challenge and injure him for months, the ref will play advantange and you will get away with it. In 360 he will card you after the play has ended. Also, the commontators have a wide range of quotes, more than Andy Greys " decent header of the ball isn't he!". 360 a totally different game than PS2.

Do you get 10 hand balls per game on 360? PC version is ridiculous when it comes to hand ball.

Am still playing FIFA 08, prefer it on PC to FIFA 10 which I have played at mates houses.

Pulled Leeds United back to the Premier League and won it.

Phoenix signed Chris Killen and Chelsea signed Chris Wood, a sign of things to come perhaps ?

I did the same with Leeds on 08. My strike partnership was Santa-Cruz and Van Nistelrooy with Essien in the midfield

I'm not too sure because this was a year or two ago but I think it was from prizemoney/sponsorship and buying/selling free agents

Just finished my first season with QPR yesterday in Manager Mode.

Like the real Rs I got stuck in a losing rut. After doing quite well and sitting in 4th spot, I lost 5 games in a row to drop me to 7th with 5 games remaining. Above me was Bristol, 4 points clear, in 6th spot.
Thankfully my boys found some form and I won 4 of the last 5 games and qualify for the Championship playoffs on a much superior goal difference over Bristol.
I faced Middlesbrough (3rd) in a home/way leg. First game, my boys were flat and couldn't find the target, losing 1-0 at Loftus Rd. The next game, however, was a completely different story as my boys stunned the home side 5-2 to qualify for the Championship Final at Wembly.
QPR were up against Derby in the decider, and the hoops turned on the style, running out 9-1 winners to earn promotion to the Premier League.

What I like about this game, is how much you have to work your team out of a losing streak. It can be very difficult sometimes and you sometimes lose the games you're almost expected to win.
Great game :)

i have played online. i find it much easier game-play online than in 08, but there's still the problem of opponents quiting the game if they are losing. and i have always found finding an opponent for a match is a very long process, so i usually just give up

Yeah, rage quitters annoy the hell out of me. Certainly puts you off playing online. Should be more punishment for doing that tbh.
Fifa10 should introduce the use of online yellow cards/red cards or something.

what console are you guys on?
Online on ps3, if someone quits/pulls their internet chord out then they get credited with a loss.
In past years when they pulled the internet chord out, the game was just as good as not played, but now the person that disconnects loses.

It's way better. In past fifa's I had to stop trying to score at like 2-0 so as to not anger them so they didn't quit!

Nah, register and you're going. You'll probably have to update system and game though.

Question though - does everyone else get real un responsive controls? I can't put up with online simply because I have to push pass 5 seconds before I need to pass.

Wish New Zealand players would come out of the nix academy on ps2, dont know whether they do on ps3 but would make it a lot more realistic. Just won the premiership with Notts county. Also how do I make my team chemistry higher? and what makes players overall stat go up from the match xp on ps2? because some players randomly do while most dont when they hit 100

On PC it depends on the players age and future potential ratings for match xp. Team chemistry goes up if you use the same core players week in week out.

has anyone tried this live season stuff? I'm really enjoying it because it's really showing off the quality of some of Arsenal's unknowens like Vermaelen and Denilson and Song who've had cracking seasons but were rated low 70's in the standard match!

On a side not, Walcott is no longer available for any club, and only for England!WTF?!

What's with the unbelievably user-unfriendly menu system?

We bought a PS3 yesterday and the game, after spending a couple of hours getting it going all we wanted to do was have a quick two player non-online match as it was getting late, did we manage it? It was like decoding the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Never had these problems with the Spectrum.

I believe the very first item in the main menu is "Kick Off" from which you select "Team" then choose the two sides and which team each player wants to control. So therefor.. X, X, (choose teams) X, (choose sides) X. Not that unfriendly.

I may be an 80's youth but I've sadly played a fair amount of PC games so I can usually figure out how to make a game play, not had a console for a few years mind. I think the setting of the different users threw us though.

I sure when I get home from work Vickmeist will have figured it out.

I got Walcott back! I had to reset squads but life is good again. I find the menu layout pretty easy TBH, but maybe it's because i've been buying the new versions on an annual basis for the past 5+ years...
