It's now available for pre-purchase on Steam. Not sure if there's already a thread about this but I wasn't going to go through every page to find there wasn't. Looks a bit more plush than last year. Still no NZFC though sadly. US$79.99

Just pre-ordered it... I love this game so much

I'm waiting to see if it gets ported to Linux when Steam does before I pre-purchase it. Either that or I'll have to wait for the demo to come out to see if I can get it working myself. It's quite a bit of money for something which 'should' work but might not.

sadly I think I'll give this a miss, I didn't spoen anywhere enough time on FM12 to justify the upgrade - I've been distracted by Fifa 12 on the PS3.

I think it will interesting with upgraded features and better 3D engine and hopefully they added a youth team for the phoenix this time to keep control of regens. Can't wait till it comes out.

Can they please make NZ more competative though...

Every year i see New Zealand get beaten by teams i have never heard of!! (I don't play the Aussie league and use a smaller databse for faster game play).

Surely now after our WC performance, emergence of local talent playing in England (Howieson / Adams / Payne / Musa / Wood) all u21 we'll get a little more respect when they make up our team.

Can't wait.... logged nearly 400 hours of game play this year (i haven't spent that much time with my wife!!)

what i want to see is  the ASB premier league working so i can recruit NZ talent and train them in the league till they are worth a quite a bit of money and sell them off for a profit. would be a good challenge for me

Just FYI for anyone who has not ordered yet, if you go to the SEGA US site you can buy the game for $US40 (About NZ$50) instead of the $US80 on Steam and elsewhere.

Disappointing to hear you have stopped doing the research News...

Well release date is official Nov 2nd...00:01 UK time (midday here after Daylight savings comes in)

I've gotta say we got the better time slot for that one. I'd rather have it downloaded and ready to play at 5pm for the weekend than 5am and be dieing to get home all day.

Been self-employed helps...

I'm only just under 400 hours. Hoping to beat that with FM13.

Congrats Everton.... are you successfully self employed??

Thats a lot of hours... my guess is you have two comps and run it simultaneously (thats what i would do).

On another note, just got tickets to the Everton Liverpool Derby at Goodison - Fuck Yeah, Everton to qualify for the Champions League next year!!

Haha sort of, just started out in April (doing enough work to get by).
Nah all on the one computer, probably average 30-40 hours a week ...
Nice, prepare to be bitterly disappointed. I'm hoping to be over in the UK in 2014 and follow the boys around for a season or two.

Disappointed...

We are looking sharp this year. Fellani is on fire and we have some decent attacking options finally.

beta comes out this friday(hopefully) for those who preordered the game! won't include network mode but will have FMC and normal game mode

playing the game, had a quick look at wellington phoenix and seems SI games haven't scouted the club well as Louis Fenton's attributes are terrible, will have to wait for January patch to sort it out otherwise playing Liverpool!

Permalink Permalink

So, I've played half a season of the FM13 Beta as Sydney in the A-League, and really loving it!

I would have loved to be the nix, but as usual the research is poor with a lot of errors still not corrected from seasons past. Yes Fenton's poor (although maybe that's harsh), but Alex Smith still being a ST/AM, Manny really should have main position of DM by now, Tyler Bond instead of Boyd, etc.

So instead I thought I'd love to take the reins of Sydney and unleash Del Piero. He's been a wee bit quiet... still haven't figured out how to get the best out of him. In saying that. in 14 games he has 8 goals (although 4 pens!) and 5 assists.

But I'm on a great run of 7 wins in a row, top of the table by a few points. A couple of useful signings. Really struggling financially, especially with Del Piero and Emerton using 90% of my salary budget! Unfortunately I'm only averaging about 10k crowds, despite scoring lots of goals and being top of the table.

Some major bugs in the beta though, probably the worst is a bug which virtually prevents you from signing any kind of marquee player for the A-League, really crippling the game, but it's been reported so should be fixed by the time the "proper" version is released.

PS I had been quite excited about Classic mode, but found it a bit disappointing, and additional bugs too. However very pleasantly surprised with speed of normal game!

The Phoenix has been done terribly in the past 2 years. I always find it easier to just use the data editor and update it myself.

Just started a game where I was a semi-pro but now an unemployed manager looking for a job...For some reason Blackburn didn't want me so I had to settle with AFC Wimbledon although I did get a couple of good offers from some Norwegian Second Division teams as well.

That's since the old Aus researchers quit and the new ones stopped using me.

About halfway through my first season with AFC Wimbledon. Had a sudden change in wage budget from 30k to 23k so now I am desperately trying to reduce my wages. Doing terribly. I am in the bottom half of the table. I think this game is a lot harder tactics wise compared to FM12 and you have to spend more time sorting out your tactics.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

The finances seem a lot harsher, the boards in FM12 never really cut the wage budgets by much even if losing money every month, in FM13 I have seen multiple wage budget cuts, one guy reporting on his game had 4.2k first season, and now in his fourth season (Still at the bottom level) has only 1.8k. While two other guys I know have had their clubs go into Admin, in one case just before the transfer window where 15 of his senior players were leaving..he was left with a team of 6 players and couldn't sign anyone...

Yea I had my wages reduced from 30k to 23k...Forever being told by the board to reduce my wages.

Tossing up whether to start a new game tonight, and if I do when I take over the club I will do my own maths on the wage budget and just have to try and keep it lower so to ensure the club doesn't go down financially and then work from there...going to be tough to get players in...might have to find an amateur club ;)

Always my first aim in FM is to make a profit and not get relegated. usually get rid of any higher wages and bulk up on cheap young talent. Develop for 2-3 years, start making profit and expand the club/move up the league tables.
In saying that i'm on FM 12, and i just got picked up by Everton (following winning the SPL with Aberdeen and gaining re-promotion for QPR, although they are going to be relegated) and am in $20mil debt with 94mil bank loan to repay back. Might be a struggle.
5 year contracts for 19/20 year olds are a good way of keeping wages down for a while.

I think I'm the exact opposite...I make full use of the budget they set for me. I also look for younger talent and quickly get rid of players who aren't up to the leagues standard. I try to get a good first impression and get a solid first 11 playing well together. Think I will have to do differently with FM13 though with the sudden budget changes and things.
