Football Manager 2014 Online Game

Hey guys,

A couple of years back we had an online game of Football Manager run by Tegal, where we played in the Championship and all took charge of a side and played against each other. However it was a bit of a nightmare because of the lack of decent online support from FM's end and Tegal never being at home to run the game. So we are going to try again!

We will be playing the Championship again, and would love for as many people to join us as possible. The league is half full at the moment, so there is still room for 12 other players to join in the fun.

Timetable:

We will be playing at the following times each week:

Tuesday 7pm - 10pm
Wednesday  9pm-12am
Friday 8pm - 11pm
Sunday 7pm - 10pm

How to connect:

When the game is running, complete the following steps to connect.

  1. Click 'Join Online Game'
  2. Type 'yellow_fever' into the Server name box, and hit Search.
  3. Select the Yellow Fever game that appears in the search box
  4. Enter the password 'gonix13'
  5. You're in!

Once you're in, you can go ahead and create your manager, and choose the team that you've reserved in the thread. Please keep the 'experience' setting when you sign up as Automatic so that we are all on a level playing field.

Yeah, that was a real shambles. But it was really fun in the rare moments that all the stars aligned and we were all actually able to play properly at the same time.

Might even purchase FM14 if this gets going - though I'd probably never be on again so perhaps not!

I think if I run the game as a proper server, we can get it going at set times every week, whether I'm at home or not. That means people will know when it's on, and can make an effort to join in on those days. Think it'll be easier than only being able to play when a specific person on.

I'd be up for it but when I'm working 2pm-10pm, I'm fucked! However, still interested. QPR of course for me.

Might have to run some sessions through to midnight to get you in the games LG!

That'd be ideal. Thats how I thought it'd work last time, but turned out I had to be on. It meant inconsistent nights, and often a pain in the ass for me as I had to stay on the entire duration whether I felt like playing or not.

Sounds awesome.

Guessing it just sims if people aren't on?

Running through till midnight would be ideal for me too actually. Then I could play most nights even for a little bit.

I'm keen, still have to buy 14 though

I remember the most challenging part was making sure everyone was on during transfer windows and preseason. Can be seriously disadvantaged if you aren't.

But I guess with consistent game times, you can just warn people that the windows are coming up. I'd quite often stop the game just before a window if no one was really online for it (like it was approaching midnight at the end of the session).

Yeah, the assistant manager will take charge if you're not on, but he'll still use all the tactics etc that you've set.
I'm thinking something like 9pm-midnight, could even run it a bit later on Friday nights maybe. Would obviously not play it on night of Nix games.

Hmm, good point. Maybe with scheduled times it would be a bit easier, as everybody would know when to be on.

I'd be keen, but that slot is too late for me, I'm up at 5am during the week so would generally only be around til 10ish...
I understand that majority would rule, and cool with that.
There is another option in FM14, where you can set-up a league/tournament and teams can be exported from peoples games. So for example Keegan's Norwich vs My Nairn County. Of course the  full league system would be much more indepth and fun, fighting for the transfers etc.

I might be interested, but I'm sure I would be terrible - haven't played since CM2, but have finally got a PC that can run the game (first upgrade in 9 years!) so have purchased it, but haven't had a chance to even play a league match yet - this would motivate me to at least get my moneys worth.

Happy to drop out if you get enough people that actually know how to play.

I might join a bit late sadly. Data cap taken a hammering with all the EPL, so should probably wait until it ticks over before downloading the game.

Besides, I'm enjoying my FM13 game too damn much at the moment also.

Fuck it, whack me down as Leicester. Can't resist he thought of Woodsy up front.

I'll look to download and play as well.  I'm moving house shortly and will probably lose internet for a bit.  So I'll look to join in when I can.  I won't 'bags' a team because of that.  I'm crap, so it probably won't matter anyway - expecting to get sacked before Christmas even if I start in November.
