The one AWs player who might hold a grudge against Hudson is Moss. From memory after Marinovic’s debut Moss never played for the AWs again.

So if Moss does a book (unlikely) may have some insights.

His unsuccessful time at Victory would also make good copy. Suspect he thinks Kevin Muscat is a right fudgewit.

Here is the thing that I think Hudson banks on

No one outside of NZ will fact check him

I think this fits right with his operations manual is that he says the right things, makes the right noises and providing no one really fact checks him, on face value, you would go 'This guy has something'

I think JDs statement of "My view is that he just fundamentally is not a good manager - ie he is not capable of preparing a football team to play good football and to win" is extremely accurate. You could give him France and I suspect they would go backwards. He might prepare well but if you're just not any good or have any clue, then all that background work wont make a difference. I think his name has definitely opened more doors than it should have

The reality is his club career as a manager has been a complete failure, and as an international manager he has had some success, but only in very narrow circumstances, and which don't really stand up to scrutiny.  I hope he fades into irrelevance

He's a decent podcast host so maybe he should just stick to that.

Highly recommended by his good friend Tyler Boyd.

This has to be a pisstake right? Next you'll be telling me Danny Hay got the AWs gig and Ricki is back coaching again.

Did they not see the MLS where he was dogshark and his team played like it? Do they not realise those same group of players are performing under a different manager?

Grumpy old bastard alert

Look team Settle, he can manage things. like getting this gig. He must have updated power point with his blogs and video's of goals scored by his charges. Also removed win/loss ratio graphs.

PS: taken credit for laying the ground work for last years U17/U20 campaigns

That old saying "Only in America". Before he applied he may have thought "Oh well they voted in Trump didn't they? Maybe I could also get selected as their Junior Soccooor Coach"

He will also get the chance  to chat up "The Soccooor Moms"

If he’s managed to make both sides of the recent US soccer fallout happy, then it’s the logical next step…

From Flying Kiwis.

They were pretty rubbish against the United States but it’s hard to be too mad when it’s so obvious that one team is just better. Anyway, the joke’s on them because we gave them Anthony Hudson. Huddo who, by the way, left USA Soccer last year to sign for a Qatari club then was moved into a technical advisor role after only three games and released by mutual consent at the end of the season. You’ll be happy to know the PR machine is still working overtime though.

I laughed when he tried to get a friend and himself into a Nix game for free. Played the "You know who I am" card and got turned away. The red badge security guy and I were have a great laugh about it later.

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2025/08/02/ex-all-whites-coach-anthony-hudson-linked-with-singapore-national-team-job/

Former New Zealand men’s national team head coach Anthony Hudson has reportedly been shortlisted for the vacant role of Singapore national coach.

The Straits Times reports that Hudson (44) is one of 15 candidates on the shortlist from more than 60 coaches who expressed interest.

The speculation comes little more than two months after the former All Whites coach was appointed technical director for the Football Association of Thailand, his eighth job since leaving New Zealand in 2017.

Others reportedly on the Singapore shortlist include 2006 FIFA World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro, former Socceroo Harry Kewell, and former Central Coast Mariners and Hibernian manager Nick Montgomery.
