Yes, NZ time.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

The Korean national anthem is total turg. And nope - kimchi is not the penultimate gift to civilization. Go you crazy, fanatical Japs.

That is one pathetic penalty.
Ref totally conned.
Maybe the defender should fall over as well?As the ball is going out.
Then play on.

Since when has Howrd Webb been an Asian ref?
P*** J* S*** is and has always been a diving c*nt. So glad the ref missed his genuine penalty shout.
Since that equaliser, Japan have really stepped up. If they can get a quick goal after the break, I can see them winning this 4-1.
Get in

Park is one of the hardest working footballers around. I have no doubt Korea will come out strong after the break. Although atm Japan is playing the better football.

I do wonder what the Japanese defender was doing when he and Park collided. Not looking at the ball at all.
I guess that gives the ref a chance to blow.

Sorry KoreanKiwi friend - these fanatical Japs are looking way too nippy.

Good start to the 2nd half by the Japs - but why didn't he pass it to the no. 11? He was free as a cheery blossom on the left.

One thing the Koreans won't do: lay down to their centuries-long mortal enemy...the dreaded suicidal Japs! Stevo2011-01-26 03:52:16

That looked in all the way. Koreans more into this now. Indeed, they're the ones who look more "kamikazee". 74'. Stevo2011-01-26 03:55:25

Just quietly, we better have our full-strength line-up for March, espeacially in the defensive department, if you know what I mean. Becoz we're gonna need it.

Don't think this ref likes sushi much.

Very good at attacking.

Second half quite even. Although quite shaky at start for Korea. This ref is making some interesting decisions, for both sides. And yes come March we will need full strength D to contain Honda and co.

Here i was thinking penalties had to be from fouls within the box. 2-1 Jpana 95 mins.

Very similar to Korean penalty.
Also outside the box.

Looking at that Korean goal Fallon might just enjoy playing against Japan.
As long as he keeps it clean.

FT: 2-2 (aet). Korea equalises in the last f**king minute. Well, here we go...

Japs through, 3-0 on penalties. Koreans, taking it hard - BIGTIME!

Three good pens by Japan the opposite for Korea.
Young inexperienced players for Korea?
Where was Park for a penalty?

2 best Korean players nowhere to be seen for the PK's. They needed their big guns to go first so they could start out on a good tone. Oh well, well played by Japan. Sad we won't see J S Park in the red uniform anymore.

Another couple of misses and finally Japan win 3-0 on kicks.
Japan nearly blew it there. I thought Korea had the better of the second half, especially in the last 20 when they should have been struggling. No complaints about the penalty, identical sort of thing to the Korean one, and the defender's feet were clearly in the box on the replay.
Same with extra time, Japan should have kept possesion and made Korea chase them once it was 2-1. Instead they sat back and when they had the ball tried to run down the clock, and almost lost the match.
I think these are the best two teams at the tournament, but Japan are beatable, so I wouldn't say the final is a foregone conclusion

I thought the same thing. Surely after 100 caps you'd expect him to step up and lead.

By contrast, I thought Honda's example was excellent. After two crap penalties at this Cup (v Syria and tonight), he says "I'll take the FIRST one", steps up and belts it in.
