Bewdy mate.

His Socceroos career came down to that one decision and it worked out. Amazing.

Glad to see Aussie make it. I enjoyed watching them squirm but still succeed.

Final whistle. Australia : Iraq 1:0, so the Socceroos are, against all odds just a couple of weeks ago, going to Brazil after all.

It may not have been very convincing, but it was enough in the end. An easy header from Josh Kennedy, from a beautifully weighted lob by Mark Bresciano. The young Iraqi team was impressive and deserve to go far in future despite not qualifying this time after their loss last week. Some work to do by Holger Osieck to whip this aging Australian team into shape before next year.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Well, congrats to Holger. I especially appreciated the way he kept us all entertained until the last minutes. Some managers would've wrapped that match up by half time, y'know?

So, the standings in group B after all results.

Japan.   played 8    pts 17

Austr.    played 8    pts 13

Jordan   played 8    pts 10

Oman    played 8    pts 9

Iraq        played 8    pts 5

Jordan to meet Uzbekistan in third vs third playoff.

Edit: added in Jordan's win

I'd like us to be the ones that make them squirm one day.

Oz v Iraq watched by average Australian TV audience of 2,000,000, making it Fox Sport's 3rd highest viewing figure of all time.

Pretty standard for a sad bastard to wake up unhappy isn't it?

Classic spot on aus tv. Caught this on the bbc world football phone in when Tim Vickery was having a good chuckle at these “intellectual heavy weights”. Sounds from the response in Brazil that the banter will be good when the aussies show up for the world cup.

Australia are set to face one of their sternest tests in years, with Holger Osieck taking his players to face the five-time World Cup winners in their own backyard next month

The Brazilian Football Confederation has confirmed that the Selecao will host the Socceroos in a friendly on September 7.

The game was understood to have already been pencilled in for some time by the CBF and Football Federation Australia, with FIFA displaying the fixture on its website since July.

Was also talk about a France friendly.

The 2022 World Cup in australia. But the Australian football:http://www.wysjg.com/australia-c-11_15/ . In my opinion, he is not looking forward to the. But I also look forward to his last World Cup event.

Croatia  1-0 over Oz.

Australia surprised me and quite frankly a draw was a fair result. The goal was offside. Oz scored one which was ruled correctly offside.

The Croats had a few bookings for the usual- throwing the ball away etc.
