Did anybody else think that there was a handball before it reached Henry? It is possible that no contact was made, however if contact was made with the head, Henry was also then offside. At any rate this is awful.

Is there scope for sanction against Henry for knowingly committing a handball?

I love Henry. Not going to deny that, but that looked very blatant and kind of puts a dampener on the French team (a great national side) making the World Cup.
He would never have done that while playing for Arsenal, it's the Barca influence.

Unbelievable. Just got back from an exam and that is ridiculous. Sounds like the frogs didn't deserve anything. Ireland made the country proud, but that is just sickening! How obvious do you want to get?! Madness. So gutted for Ireland.

After the match, the Barcelona striker said Swedish referee Martin Hansson was the main culprit for not spotting the infringement.
"I will be honest, it was a handball. But I'm not the ref," Henry said. "I played it. The ref allowed it. That's a question you should ask him."

The worse part is, he will sleep like a baby tonight.

The worst part is he cheated and nothing will be done about it.

At present nothing can be done about it. I find it interesting that some retrsopective action can be taken in some quarters. For example Brad Freidle had a red card rescinded earlier this year when he was incorrectly sent off, there was also the Eduardo diving incident. I think some post match citing process could be adopted. It wouldn't change the result but it would allow the Irish to lay a charge of unsportsmanlike behaviour against Henry which could potentially see him miss upcoming matches. However, if he had been censured at the time the worst he would have got is a yellow card- the rule would have to change to deliberate handball in opponents penalty area is cause for dismissal.

Yeah fifa needs to look at this. IMO this is far worse than what moss did but he gets a 4 match ban. Henry blatently cheats and fifa can't do anything about it. We need to encourage players to play in the spirit of fair play. This sort of thing and all the diving that goes on puts a lot of people off football.

That would have been a handy little tap-in in Gaelic football. Maybe that's why he did it, to troll the Irish.
