There's more MLS coverage on Sky now that they've added ESPN2 to the line-up - ESPN2 is the channel that MLS is on, more so than ESPN.

Just as Sky finally do that, Ryan gets the sack at Toronto and there's no more Kiwis involved in MLS.

Bummer!

Lochy still going strong at Chivas? It seems their mid season run came to an abrupt end.

A team from the eastern conference hasn't won since Columbus Crew in 08'.

Was a very open match from the get go. LA always on top of New England though.

This is the new MLS logo for next season as well, it was revealed a few months ago:

(EDIT: Apparently the JPEG of the logo was considered a virus)

It is interchangeable between every team

My only dislike is how the "sash" protrudes from the shield, it just doesn't work. If they removed that, they would have a respectable design, albeit plain.

Some New York City fans are enraged over Lampard staying in Manchester, allegedly he'll go straight into playing for New York after the EPL season.

Finding it fairly doubtful he'll go straight to New York to play after the EPL season finishes, imagine he'd want some sort of holiday.. Which he would have got had he been in New York for preseason.

Another interesting few bites in the off season is Brek Shea coming back, flopped in Europe, so he's back to new franchise Orlando City. There also seems to be an expectation that Steve Gerrard will be going to the MLS as well.

Apparently the Timbers/Red Bulls/Toronto are looking at Jozy Altidore which would be solid name to have around the MLS. Fairly prolific at AZ Alkmaar and NY Red Bulls where he started. He'd demand a fair amount, not as much as what he's getting at blunderland.

I'd be puzzled if the Timbers really pushed for him, already have Adi, Urruti and Fernandez, among others who can play forward, who all take up a reasonable amount of salary - I'd say it'd be unlikely.

Toronto - bleh? That cluster muck of a club. Current forwards include Defoe, Gilberto, Bright Dike, Oduro.. Not to mention the 12 million currently spent on Bradley and Defoe for wages. Not sure how'd they'd manage it, again unlikely.

NY Red Bulls.. Now Henry has gone that has freed up a big chunk of money and a DP spot for them, Wright-Phillips has been working a charm for them, but I imagine they can aim a bit higher than Jozy Altidore but that being said, I'd say they'd be more likely of the 3 to pick him up due to funds.

Some unknown also signed for LA Galaxy, Stogan Bernard?

All I know is that if I can be bothered and dates work out (haven't looked at the draw yet) and the Crew are playing in LA. I'll be there.

That'd be great! It's a shame theres only one team in LA city at the moment with Chivas gone, but looks like they'll be coming back as LA FC, 2017 I think..

Lord knows how they're going to pull it off, Timbers pursuing Jozy Altidore on a 5 mil contract for 3 years (not sure if its 5 mil per year or split over 3, most likely the former)

Madness! They're going to have to drop someone.

Urruti?

I have no idea what they would do, I don't think it would Urruti, as he doesn't occupy near enough salary or a DP spot, given that, it'd most likely be Adi whom does. They'll have to do a lot of juggling to accommodate Altidore.

There are also rumours of clubs being allowed a 4th DP spot this year as well, I think eventually they want to put it to 5. Making all this frivolous puzzle piecing redundant.

TFC are aiming to be the MLS version of Keegan's Newcastle, added Giovinco & Altidore but have only 4 defenders on their books. If they don't score 4+ a game, they still may struggle to make the play offs.

Hasn't Defoe gone?

Permalink Permalink

Yes, he's gone to Sunderland which they then released Altidore to the MLS allocation, where he has been put to Toronto.

Slightly relieved the Timbers didn't pick him up, Porter tends to look for more dynamism than just an in-out striker like Jozy. It's definitely one of the biggest moves to occur this off-season. Still more to come as well.

As Ryan said too, Giovinco allegedly just signed with Toronto as well. Where they'll probably drop Gilberto there other

Toronto have somehow managed Giovinco signature. Wondering how this will work out in the end, they in theory should at least make the finals this year. That being said, it is Toronto.

No mention of how he will fit into the squad, I imagine they won't be paying him within the cap.. Bye bye Gilberto.

Apparently he'll be joining in July.

Might try for him and Altidore to see how it goes.

Valeri is done until April/May, probably won't see him have his best season, he takes a while to get going, last season showcased this with his on/off injuries.

I am thinking Keane and Gerard could possibly make a most deadly combination this season once Mr Steven arrives.

Azevo and YF Friends,

I went onto the proposed MLS Classic League and its not looking too good, only 1 taker so far.  I thought I'd mention a Head to Head League I'm in that needs a few extra Managers. Please feel free to join up. From what I can see it numbers 16 managers from USA, UK and Spain. Its for fans with little MLS experience.

another league to join is always good, I've never been to interested in head to head, but will join.

I will be talking to a wall here about the MLS, but I know some here are interested. So I will go on.

Keep posting. People are reading even if they are not replying. It seems that the LA Galaxy are favourites yet again. The bookmakers also seem to be liking Toronto to at least make the playoffs.
