Cup matches typically get low attendances - the Flounders controversially have played cup matches at their training ground instead of at Seahawks Stadium. Portland played their last match at a college ground, but Jeld-Wen Field was still unavailable then.

Good win, Timbers had many missed chances, but the ground was rather wet and looked problematic for players.

oh no, Chivas down to 9 men. Maybe no surprises but Boyens got 2 yellow cards so hes out and another player got a straight red. Elliott is on the park.

there's a game live on espn today at 3pm Galaxy v red bulls i think.

amazingly Chivas lost 1 nil, they did pretty well with 9 men to survive 87 minutes until RSL scored the winning goal.

Next up my beloved TFC take on Houston at home, later Chicago Fire at home playing Vancouver.

Gee until I saw the line ups for this game I didn't quite understand the standard of the MLS. If the A-League could reach this standard in the next 5-6 years then we certainly couldnt complain. Heaps of familiar names across the two teams. Teemu Tainio, Landon Donavan, Beckham, Henry, Juan Pablo Angel, Rafa Marquez ....

come on now....

6.5 mill on Beckham, 1.5 Mil on Donovan and Angel...and the rest around them are fairly cack.

you could actually see Donovan and Beckham playing the game trying to avoid passing to other players who had donkey first touches and turned the ball over time and again...

These are the two big spenders. The quality much like the a-league is inconsistent across a team...

Biggest match in MLS history this Sunday, as the Timbers head up to Seattle to out-sing the Flounders fans.

ECS August 2007: http://youtu.be/N5e_N_BCPlM
Timbers Army August 2007: http://youtu.be/0ztDcrGn3S0

Gonna be EPIC - although the return leg will surely be better Rose City 'Til I Die!

Hardly. Let's see the entire history between Toronto and Vancouver in the MLS era:

1. Vancouver d. Toronto 4-2 @ Vancouver (MLS)
2. 0-0 draw @ Vancouver (Voyageurs Cup)
3. Vancouver leads 1-0 until late in the game when the match is called off due to unforeseen weather conditions under which Toronto failed to control the controllables, knowing full well they could force a match abandonment and subsequent replay should the match appear to result in Vancouver's favour. Allegedly.

very well done them, am yet to watch the highlights on the site, Sporting Kansas vs the Fire was interesting I hear, had 8 mins stoppage time because of someone dressed as a cow invading the pitch and apparently a massive brawl between a player and a linesmen or something a rather.

That was the most exciting part of the game apparently, am just watching highlights now. Man the A-league need a site like the one MLS has.. So damn good.
