slowly wearing down but often too tired /hyped to sleep when i do get the chance

not doing all games by any means but having a new job that i want to keep hasn't helped with the priority setting!

Most nights I have been sleeping from after dinner til 11, then 4-6, then to school at 8.20. I need to start sleeping for a few hours afterschool, and will use this weekend to catch up a bit.

Drinking a lot of instant coffee (can get it done quickly during half times) and my phone is loaded with alarms.

Today I started experience some wierd moments in maths and english, really difficult to concentrate.

I've switched to Euro time for this.
Going to bed around 8-8:30 am & trying to sleep til 15:00 but it doesn't seem to be working. Generally waking at around 12:00 or 13:00.

Strange eating dinner at 02:30.

I'm a mess! Work is a marathon and I'm turning in some piss poor work. I need to eat better and I'm living on coffee. But in Maslow's Hierarchy of needs football is first.

I'm in the same boat as tigers - a new job derailed my master plan for time off. Still, I haven't missed a game yet. Looking forward to the weekend though.

I started off going to bed after dinner (8pm), getting up at 11.25, watching the first two matches, going back to bed, then up for the last game and off to work.

I have now amended that slightly to maximise sleep quality. I set MySky to record the first two matches, go to bed after dinner (8pm), get up at 3am and watch the recorded first two matches, which catches me up to the last one to watch live. I will deviate from this when one of the first two games is either England or NZ.

No instant coffee for me Oska. I grind the beans before going to bed, so as not to risk waking anyone, put them in the plunger and first thing I do in the morning is boil the kettle.

The other change to my schedule is that I'm training at lunchtimes instead of in the mornings. Fortunately, I'm in the taper - the next marathon is only 9 days away - so I have time to get in each training run at lunchtimes.

I am a little worried about how to do the final group phase games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Usually I watch one, record one and then immediately watch the recorded one. That's fine for the 2am matches, but for the 6:30am it will make me very late for work, so I might have to try and avoid the score of the recorded one and watch it at dinner in the evening.

finding it pretty tough, was quiet at work for the 2 months leading up to it (spent a fair few hours each day at work on yellowfever).
work decided to pick up the week before the cup, 5am starts are making it pretty diffecult to see all the games, have had to sacrifice a few but pretty happy with the amount ive seen so far

I've been going to bed at around 9pm, myskying the first two games, getting up at 5am and watching the best out of those two, and then the 6.30 game. I'm still sweet at work and getting enough sleep - missing one game a night but if its a goody I'll watch it when I get home.

Taking next week off though, to absorb the 4 games a night period.

I just couldn't do the Spain v Swiss game so I taped it, figuring I had a pretty good chance of getting through the day without finding out the score, especially as at my workplace the WC apparently doesn't exist: they only ever talk about that quaint little Australian folk-game called 'Footy'.

Anyway, made it home, plonked myself down, rewound the tape ready to watch when suddenly my wife who has NO INTEREST in the game pipes up, "Shame about Spain this morning".

There followed a short, unpleasant domestic incident....

Sorry, I LOL'd there.

I might take some mornings off school for the 8.30am games, although that will mean catching up on some assesments at lunch times. : l

Managed to sleep from 5 til 11 today, and not feeling hungry.

My pets are finding this awake marathon harder than I am. they are used to me sleeping winter weekends away but usually I'm out during the night and the house is all quiet so they can sleep. they find this lights & tv on all night thing rather strange

you guys have been an awful influence. I was so tired last night I got home from a club at 2am and actually fell asleep on my couch with 30 mins to go on the Aus/Ghana game - even tho I was pumped full of chemical assistance.

Tomorrow is going to be a bitch. Team meeting at 8:30am...no excuses acceptable!

Planning on going to bed about 9:30pm, up at 2am, back to bed for 4am, and up again at about 7:30am.

Ugh.

I haven't slept in my own bed for over a week - I have an air mattress in front of the tele! I'm aiming to catch every game, but I've slept through a couple now. I'm basically living for the cup now, every moment of the day when a game is not on I hate.

My sleeping patterns are so f**ked, and last night I tried to go to bed at 5 but had wierd dreams about Cameroon and Germany all over the place and I had to wake up, convince myself that it isn't that chaotic, and remind myself how the Wolrd Cup works. Milo and Cola is doing the job for me right now, wasn't getting any buzz from sh*t coffee.

My mind can't switch off. It was bad enough having to eventually get to sleep at 5am after the AWs game, woke up twice and then being late for a quick 9:15am meeting was hard going. Still sore from Saturday's game as well. Getting sick of people ringing me in the morning. So I switch off the phone. I am getting more caveman-like that I should be.

I've had to miss a couple of games in the last few days cos I had an exam this afternoon. Obviously didn't skip the game of the tournament last night though. From here on in it's every game live for me.

that might be a bit difficult given games are being played at the same time

unless you have 2 sky decoders hooked up to 2 tvs side by side, if thats the case, f**k you you luck bastard

Haven't missed a game yet, but did "lose" a few minutes in odd blocks watching games this morning.

The next four days, in particular the next three, will be interesting. I can watch the 2am games okay. I think I might watch the first half of each match (got to love MySky where you can start watching an in-progress recording - not like video in the old days!), then break the second half into two blocks. That way, I gain the best sense of the qualifying contest from each group as I go along. Except for England and NZ's games, which have to be watched live in their entirety. Obviously.

The problem is the 6:30 games when I don't have time off work. I can watch one game and then try to avoid the score of the other until the evening. Or watch the first half of each and try to avoid both scores.... eek.
