Usually I don't think the things do much for atmosphere, but it sounded pretty incredible when Forlan put his penalty in the back of net against Bafana this morning. It was like the audio cut out. Loved it!

Ah, the good old tabloid press in the UK have climbed aboard the vuvuzela fun bus. The Sun is giving them away to it's readers. I can't really imagine somebody at Milwall or West Ham getting away with honking one of these for 90 minutes:

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

It's official our CEO Edwin Lugt at SFC announced on our forums that the Vuvuzela is to be banned at Sydney home games.

These annoying plastic things have definitely made the internet a far funnier place.

On serious note (not Bb), a few top players have now complained about vuvuzelas putting them off their games, through being a distraction and by making conversation between players difficult. There have been far fewer goals than in other years and it seems reasonable to me that the horns are atleast partly responsible. I'm used to the sound of the wretched things (after 20-odd games the world sounds weird when I can't hear them), but if they're ruining the quality of play then the sooner they are gone, the better!

Bout time someone stated the obvious:
http://www.theonion.com/articles/south-african-vuvuzela-philharmonic-angered-by-soc,17625/

"In order to save its concert season, the South Africa Vuvuzela Philharmonic Orchestra, has scheduled a special benefit concert for July 11 at Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium. The orchestra will be accompanied by 8,000 special guest vuvuzela players from Ghana and the Ivory Coast, and the concert program will include the debut of new single-tone compositions by Philip Glass, Arvo Prt, and vuvuzela fan Mark Mothersbaugh."

The complaint about them affecting the quality of play is absolute bollocks. Argentina and Germany don't seem to be having much trouble.

Three for me, and two for them.

the horns seem really muted in the Ger vs Srb game - thought it was Sky at first but can actually hear background noise for once

Is it just me or ave I been hearing more chanting, crowd reactions, sounds other than vuvuzela's in the last few games? Maybe the broadcasters have adjusted their audio systems/settings...

Possibly, but I think a lot of supporters at games not involving South Africa are making an effort to chant as loudly as possible.

I notice the South American supporters and Mexicans especially, doing the Ole Ole etc during their games.

It appears i spoke too soon. The vuvuzela was present at Birko's Chatham Cup tie yesterday.

Three for me, and two for them.
