It sounds like a dog took a sh*t in the stadium and every fly in Africa has flowin in for a feed.  Hope they ban this abroation for the rest of the WC, its a truely horrible sound here at the pub.

I doubt they will ban it so you will just have to deal with it.

At the very least the broadcasters should turn down the crowd noise, or mic up the non-South African supporters!

He should have done that long one, you know, the one which is like a movie or something. I like that one. Is it even R Kelly?

Mexico '86.  I thought I was the coolest guy in the world with my Bata Bullets from Hannahs.

WHat a chance for the saffers.

Was that dude that met the deflection at the far post offside? Didn't see a proper angle but anyway should have done a whole lot better with that surely.

That goal was an incredible finish. Couldn't have placed it any better at all. 100% in exactly the top corner wow.

Goodness me!  It's all Mexico - then the Saffers hit the post in the 89th minute!

horrible things. turns an exciting and dynamic crowd into a monotonous drone. in fact, it's making watching the games almost unbearable.... awful

I think it's the same thread moved.

For the record, I am with the haters. For the same reason as Phil, where is the passion and singing from the crowd we love in Football? Drowned out by a swarm of killer bees

No. Phil_style started a new one in the match thread forum. And then the whole thing got moved into this one.

How about concentrate on the football and lighten up a bit. I don't like them much either but i've learned to deal with it and enjoy the football, rather than complain about them during every single game of the tournament.

If it's ruining your perfect football viewing experience that much perhaps you should press the mute button or just not bother watching at all.

Three for me, and two for them.

I don't like them at all - but after a time the noise just fades into the background. Leave them in South Africa though.....

They dont bother me. Its Africas world cup and its their "flavour". I cant remember which world cup had the non stop drumming but each world cup has its own style. things we think are great might end up being offensive to people from another part of the world. I think the whining about the vuvezuelas is as annoying as the sound they make, sort of quite similar to be honest.

Anyway 2 games in and its already fantastic, loved both games bring on the rest.

Would be nice to hear a bit of variation though, its not the noise itself for me but the relentlessness

Will it drown out the English Band, The White Noise, The Dutchies?- probably yes

But yeah, it is South Africa's cup, so let em have it.

Sepp looked pissed when they wouldn't shut up for him, oso anything that pisses Sepp off can't be that bad

Shame about that awful droning. South Africa has some great music styles which they could have used that could have really worked with the crowd - some great afro-beats that people could chant with, dance to etc - rather than simply drowning it all out in 90 minutes of Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. It sounds like a humungous never-ending traffic jam.

ive got no idea what you lot are complaining about...
after a few minutes i stop noticing the noise and completely forgot about it

There was afew times in the SA/Mexico match where a simple pass was missed, and i suscpect the noise may have contributed- though it seemed to plague the SA team more.

Teams will soon learn to cope and adjust though

Its going to probably be the only sore point doing the cup, its really off putting, much rather hear the chanting, the singing, the banging of drums, than the constant  cell phone like hummm, i mean they do it for the whole game, which is crazy.

I compare it to the one day cricket a few years back, when Danny Morrision was in charge of the grounds entertainment, and every time a four or a six or a wicket happen, he would blast out some cheesy spice girls pop crap.

As a fan you wanted to cheer, the boundary, but there was no point.

It will be interesting to get a first hand report of just how loud it is in the stadiums once our guys get there. I've read quite a few things online already about guests in hotels all over not getting much sleep cause the noise is constant throughout towns from fans just roaming the streets. And apparently they spread concentrated germs

I did find them annoying but eventually it became background noise but if it makes it hard for the players/coaches etc then def think they shd be banned tho obv too late now

It takes away from real astomphere, because its so constant, lets hope the tv people will get theiir way and ban the things.

Your whining is just as bad as the Vuvuzelas brett. If you're gonna spend the majority of the World Cup whinging and moaning about a plastic horn perhaps you should re evaluate whether or not you really want to watch it.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yep. It's not as if it was the first time that these things have been unleashed on football matches.

After a while you just concentrate on the moving pictures and the noise becomes background...white noise

Uhm this is my first post about the horn things, its hardly whining for the majority of the world cup, its just one my one sore point.

Im sure like most football fans, I will get use to it, during the torument.

Buffy, this thread is devoted to whining about the bloody horrible things. Go make a "vuvuzelas are OK by me" thread and leave us grumpy buggers alone.

I never said they were ok by me. I just learned to live with them and tolerate them. Perhaps if you did the same you would have a more enjoyable World Cup experience.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, but that's not going to happen. Part of enjoying a football game is the ebb and flow of the crowd noise, the nervous mutterings when a free kick is set up, the unbridled excitement of a breakaway run down a wing, the gasp at a shot just going wide...none of which we will get.

It's a shame.

Brett,it IS the atmosphere. Yes,i find it annoying to...but to say it takes away from the atmosphere is a little silly.

The WC is in SA,it is THEIR WC. If it were in Brazil, everyone would be doing the samba,if it were in England theyd all be moaning and punching each other up,if it were in spain theyd all be singing. But it is in SA,and that means the football atmosphere involves Vuvuzelas.

Good on Sepp for not bowing to pressure from broadcasters, and banning them.

Having said that...f**k they're annoying.

Allegedly
