From Flying Kiwis, with a little reminder that SA can indeed be a dangerous place. Mods please up date his club.

SFC Head Coach Steve Barker: “It is really exciting to welcome Andre to our club. He is a player we have admired and followed closely over the last few seasons and once we learned that he was available on the market, the Club acted quickly to complete the transfer. A current international with New Zealand, Andre brings a lot of experience to the team. With his strong technical ability to create and score goals, we feel he fits perfectly into our system of dynamic players who can influence the game. We are looking forward to him making an immediate impact on the team’s performance this season and beyond.”

Andre De Jong: “I am very pleased and excited to be joining Stellenbosch FC. I have always felt that they are a team that plays a positive and entertaining style of football. The Club, the administration, coach Steve Barker and the players have all been very welcoming and made me feel right at home already. It’s a beautiful part of the country and I am really looking forward to pulling on the Stellenbosch shirt.”

Tragically, the club has since been rocked by the awful news that 19 year old local prospect Oshwin Andries was killed in a stabbing. Andries was the club’s youngest ever goal scorer and recently captained the South Africa U20s. He’d played ninety minutes in defence for Stellenbosch in the previous match and the stabbing incident allegedly happened later that evening. He’d been treated for his wounds, even attended training over the next couple of days (although obviously didn’t take part), yet appears to have then died of complications. Players didn’t find out until after the Chippa game.

De Jong a 74th min sub (0-0) in a home 1-1 draw with runaway league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns (17 pts clear of 2nd place). Sundowns gunning for a 6th consecutive PSL title.

Stellenbosch 10th.

Sundowns with a big CAF Champions League Group game against Al Ahly from Cairo later this week. Al Ahly beat Auckland City 3-0 at the CWC, then Seattle Sounders 1-0, before losing to Real Madrid 4-1 in their semi final. Sundowns currently top their CCL group, and is must win game for Al Ahly (3rd in the group).

3 hints in three weeks. This will be a good test if the mods read the threads or are sleeping

Auckland will rise once more

First hint made 21st Jan (not by me), so I think it's fair to surmise none of the Mods follow ADJ much.

Coochie, I think you need to be a mod.

I'm worried these forums are dying. There we only 80 replies in Saturdays WPM match day thread, which surely must be a new low by some distance.

ADJ off at 78 mins (2-0) in a 2-0 win.
The leading candidate to replace Wood if he is injured for the China games?

ADJ subbed off at 38 mins (losing 2-0) in a 2-1 loss.

Stellenbosch had their keeper sent off at 16 mins (already down 1-0). So maybe that played a factor in ADJ coming off early.

Gets one over his former employer - Credited with the assist for Stellenbosch' 1st.

Although they've been quickly pegged back. 1-1 after 20.

Stellenbosch (11th) host Mamelodi Sundowns (1st) in a Cup game.

Sundowns running away with the PSL title yet again, being 19 pts clear in first. They have a CAF Champions League QF 1st leg away against Belouizdad in Algeria next week. I think they have been focusing on winning a 2nd CAF CL title for awhile now. Won it in 2016

Stellenbosch (6th) travel to Supersport United (3rd).

Stellenbosch have been in pretty good form of late. Though ADJ hasn't been sighted since being replaced at HT in a loss to Royal AM on 9th April. Likely an injury, as he hasn't even been in a match day squad since then. He did provide an assist early on in that game.

A 0-0 draw. No ADJ.
2 PSL rounds left to finish the season.

Stellenbosch are also in a Cup semifinal this weekend against fellow PSL side
Sekhukhune United
, so in with a shot at some silverware.

Meanwhile runaway PSL leaders Mamelodi Sundowns are into the CAF Champions League semifinals. They play Morocco's Wydad Casablanca over 2 legs from next week.

Stellenbosch lose pen shootout 3-4 and don’t get their Cup final

0-0 after ET. ADJ subbed in at 69 mins but then strangely off again at 101 mins (unless was an injury). So not involved in the shootout

Overall there were 7 subs made in ET, and both teams subbed off their GKs for the shootout. It’s almost as if both teams knew they were going to a shootout pre game?? Wonder if FIFA will ask a few qtns

De Jong starting.

Edit - ADJ off at 59 mins (2-1).
Finished 2-1

Stellenbosch ended up 6th on the table. Good effort considering when ADJ joined them they were in relegation trouble.

Mamelodi Sundowns won the PSL title yet again, being 16 pts clear.  They unfortunately lost their CAF Champions League semi final over 2 legs to Wydad Casablanca

ADJ off the pine at 76 mins to head in the ET winner for Stellenbosch, 8 Cup quarter final. Stellenbosch beating Supersport 1-0.

I think this is the same comp Brockie & M Boxall won once with Supersport. Brockie with a goal or 2 in the final.

That is correct mate. South Africa's PSL has 3 Cup comps in a season. The Top 8 Cup is the traditional start of the new season. It is contested by the teams finishing 1 to 8 place in the previous season.
Happy for AdJ and hoping for a success season (10 goals would be nice)
