That whole 'soccer' thing made me think he was talking to Brendan Telfer.
Obviously the poor buggar was being led astray by a non-football football expert :-)
Transfermarkt has him listed as a 'free agent'.
Unattached FC making a comeback?
He also had a short stint as head coach at Sydney Olympic in 2017.
Not sure if soon to be 36 year old Themi is still at Levadiakos in the Greek 2nd tier, or maybe retired. Reads below that 2nd tier in Greece has been restructured again.
Wonder if with 36 teams (24 more teams), is just semi-pro now? Anyway likely just added to the reasons why Elliot & all the Aussies left/were let go by Xanthi.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021%E2%80%9322_Super_League_Greece_2
The 2021–22 Super League 2 will be the third season of the Super League 2, the second-tier Greek professional league for association football clubs, since the restructuring of the Greek football league system.
He has been class.
No doubt whatsoever to be honest. Right up the top of the league in terms of assists, and from RB too. An excellent achievement given he's alongside the likes of Tilio, Goodwin & Noone for that accolade, and even then those blokes are all wingers for their respective club sides.
Very impressed with the physical side of his game too. He has more of a presence about him, seems a lot stronger and is perhaps even a touch quicker. That, and his defensive side of the game has come on in leaps and bounds. Perfect example that piece of defensive work on Ayongo yesterday - nips the ball off him, but then leads him on a merry little dance all the way down the touchline, Ayongo had no clue. Was probably the best bit of individual skill on show yesterday afternoon.
Hopefully he can keep up this form the rest of the season, it's been a pleasure to watch his progression.
As the @WgtnPhoenixFC return to action tonight, a young Kiwi is rising to prominence this season.

Believe that Wellington Phoenix fullback Callan Elliot (1999) is attracting interest from Scottish clubs as well as clubs in England’s League One.

If the contract renewals are handed out solely by the manager (ie Talay) then his future being uncertain might directly impact players leaving on frees. Maybe Gill has the authority, but the uncertainty of who'll be coaching next season will almost definitely be a factor in the thinking of these guys. The last thing needed with a coach leaving is an exodus of the key performers.
But yes Lewis would be the biggest loss, especially if he left on a free. Not many guys like him around the NZ or even Aussie scene. Perhaps Narelle doesn't want to leave her NZ media job. She didn't follow him to Scun-thorpe.
He'll be 24 in July, his mate Waine has gone north, I reckon he'll be keen to go now as well. You will also have more suitors when you are coming off contract, than on. The SPL is full of ex ALM Aussies, doing well.
Elliott's mentor Paul Ifill will also have a few lower league UK contacts that might be handy for him.

After that Xanthi experience, hopefully he bases his decision on where he will play the most.

He will be older & wiser after the Xanthi frustrating experience. But if he was prepared to make the leap to Greece, after only 9 ALM games, heading to the land of his birth (if it is the SPL) 2 full ALM seasons later, shouldn't phase him too much.
He's in form, and who knows an offer from the UK may not be around next season. Maybe like Waine, Cacace & Rojas - is a big draw to play in his parent's homeland.
And lastly all of his 10 team mates that started the 2019, U20 WC QF against Colombia are now playing abroad. Woud, Pijnaker, Stanger, Stensness, Cacace, Bell, Singh, McCowatt, Just & Waine. Plus bench players Mata & Wilkins. Apart from Woud, abroad is Europe. Elliott can't help but be aware of that little bit of trivia now. Last man left, turn out the lights!
Two assists 👟

He's in Scotland right now, but could be for a multitude of reasons. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a holiday to see family with a trial or two sprinkled in

He has had some interest from both Scotland & England.
We'll see what eventuates. Hopefully something sorted soon.🤞

About bloody time! Has spent far too long out of the game after having a pretty solid campaign for us last term.
Hopefully he can come in and make an impact. Might not get his international spot back for the coming international window, but if he does well there's a long term place for him at RB for the AW's.
There's a new face in town 🇳🇿

Callan Elliot has joined on a deal until the end of the season.
Welcome, @CallanElliot 👋
6 month deal. If he doesn't prove himself, he can have Auckland as a fall back move. Here's hoping he does show he is up to it.
It might be awhile before he gets any mins for the Motherwell first team, and is deemed SPL match fit.
Last started a competitive football match when the Nix lost 2-0 in Adelaide, Elimination Final 5th May last year - so nearly 8 months ago. Though later did get a 20 min cameo off the bench for the AWs against Sweden in June. But unless he's been quietly training hard the last month or so with Motherwell, likely will have to bid his time.
Hopefully with time they learn to spell the internationalist's name correctly. Like Motherwell, not Motherwel.
