I can see someone linked to a fan shot of Waine's goal:

And he's been substituted, job very well done Ben.

His goal is a traditional Waine header.

Outstanding. Imagine if he gets to a cup final at Wembley three months after arriving in the UK. Hell of a debut that.

Should have had a hat-trick, but not the best pitch, missed a couple of real good chances. Great to see him make an awesome start!

Yeah, it's unfortunate he missed some chances he would normally put away, but like you said. Plus the fact he was making his first start in just his 2nd appearance, nerves would've probably got to him, even after he scored.

He's probably right at home in the UK currently. Been bloody windy and wet but not cold for about 8/9 days now. He's certainly "taken the weather with you".

We'll look after him over here., he says he feels like he's home because we are known as Britain's Ocean City.

Here's a photo of our City.

That's some miss from Waine and the second chance you expect him to do better.

The pitch was terrible to be fair and it looks like he studded a wee bit. We're all excited by his movement and his ability to be a nuisance.

Wait until he plays at Home Park on a very decent pitch.

I saw a game at Home Park a few seasons back on TV, It was an excellent surface and a great stadium. Much like what we should have had in Wellington instead of that Lemon shaped lemon we do have.

Most of love it. Some wanted a brand new stand but many of us love the fact that we have a grandstand with history.

In all fairness the old Mayflower stand was waayyy beyond its use-by date, you and I both know it, yet the referb has really breathed new life in to it.  Now for those still unsightly corners...

Happy with Argyle and the Nix both getting decent away results today.  Was over at Ipswich for the match, great atmosphere as usual from the Green Army.

The Beeb has a great pic from todays match:

A Norwich City loanee with the goal for Plymouth against Ipswich.

https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/report-ipswich-town-1-argyle-1

That and the personnel changes took all the momentum out of proceedings; after almost ten minutes of no action, Walton gave his own team another scare, dallying on the ball and letting substitute Ben Waine block his clearance, but the ball ricocheted wide.

Azaz and Sam Cosgrove entered the fray, as Schumacher looked to force the issue and change system, but the stop-start nature of the final stages prevented Argyle from building momentum. A Randell corner threatened to loop into the far corner, but Walton back-tracked well to punch away the danger. As Ipswich efficiently broke up the game, it seemed unlikely that the Pilgrims would find a way back into the game – but a Norwich City loanee (Mumba) had other ideas at Portman Road.

With the home side dropping deeper, Azaz slid a clever pass through the lines to Mumba, who had come inside from the right flank. The wing back controlled well, looked up, and curled a wonderful strike into the postage stamp of the far corner. Just as he did at Home Park, Mumba’s superb goal pegged back Ipswich Town, sending the packed away contingent into raptures.

Ben had a couple of attempts when he came on, the first a shot on the run but from a very acute angle hit the side netting, quite a few 1000 thought it had gone in.

We had four players making their proper home debut yesterday and all did well.

Waine's high flying Argyle are back in action tomorrow. Tough task though, top of the table clash against Sheffield who have the biggest GD in the league.

Waine subbed at HT. Plymouth had made 4 of their 5 subs by HT

They lost a CB and then their GK to injury early.

By the sounds of things Waine was playing as a lone striker and they were hoofing the ball up to him vs some big CBs, so a tough day at the office for him.

From Flying Kiwis after his starting debut at Wednesday on the weekend.

While it clearly wasn’t the starting debut that Waine-o will have been day-dreaming about as he walked onto the pitch, his manager made a firm point of backing his kiwi striker afterwards as well as pointing out the tactical reasons for Waine’s selection and also why he subbed him...

Steven Schumacher: “We just felt with Waineo down the middle and Tyreik there that we might be able to hit them on the break because sometimes at home if they pass it out they can be caught on counter attacks. They didn't really pass it out that much, Sheffield Wednesday, they went a bit more direct and we didn't get our counter attacks and breaks that we expected so we had to change it at half-time. We just felt that getting Sam on there and Ryan up there might give us a little bit more to build from. Ben Waine is going to play in loads of these big games against big centre-halves like Aden Flint so he will learn from the experience.”
