From LFC point of view the gaffer has been buying strikers and wants to sell. Isn't this about putting him in the shop window; and with each goal his price goes up?

nz football has been there for him when he didnt have much club time playing, plus he was born and raised here, I feel he has a different attitude than tommy.

Wood has basically said he isn't going anywhere. He wants to be in the EPL so I don't see why another team would buy him.

Was great to switch on BBC news this am (Watford time) and see Chris tucking his goal away.  

Its a crap day here but hearing an All White instead of an All Black getting mentioned on the news here in the UK is great!

watched Wood play. Can see why they might prefer another striker this evidence. He had about 8 other touches apart from the goal.  He's quite good in the air flicking the ball on and winning 50/50s, but his first couple of touches were very heavy and particularly the first one in the box with his back to goal. Both times he could have unleashed an attack or created a goal scoring opp and he wasn't under particularly close pressure. He also bicycle kicked Jagielka square in the head! Complete accident, but was really pushing himself.

Certainly got himself noticed now. Can he back it up and grow as a player? Exciting times.

I think it harsh to say he was poor otherwise. That chance you were talking about was behind him and he ha a defender all over him. He was full of energy, running into space and was calling out for the ball. I thought he was good

Watching CNN on the weekend drove me nuts. Some ok content but everything is announced as though it's a trailer for a hollywood blockbuster. Which is just unacceptable when the report is on something like ISIS or Gaza. Ginds my gears.

But I digress. They did have good coverage of Chris Wood.

I find with some big events you have to watch a few different news channels to really get all angles of the stories, some though you should just avoid, Fox, for instance, really struggles to be unbiased, as does RT.

sorry wasn't saying he was poor- as you say he ran well, got into good spaces, attacked the ball, showed a lot of energy. But also had a couple of heavy touches. Something he can work on...

im not sure he's ever going to lose the heavy touch, he's always been like that for the AW's, hopefully it doesnt hinder him too much.

I'm sure that after a couple more games at this level, some of the errors present will disappear. Just look at Winston who had a rough first season.

I think this from the LCFC website sums it all up. He's still only 22, and while 1 goal doesn't make a season, it's a great start and long may it continue

Wood feels like he has plenty to offer. So does his manager.

“You have to remember with Chris that, although he is a 6ft 3in striker and he got his career here off to a flyer, he is still a young man.

“He has an awful lot to offer and to learn, but for him to have to go through a week or 10 days with that level of speculation, clear his head and respond in the way he did speaks volumes for his ability to put things behind him and carry on.

“It can be unsettling for an individual to be involved in speculation around their future but, at his age and bearing in mind he got off to an absolute flyer when he arrived here - you have to keep it in context.

“I am very pleased he was able to play his part in securing our first point in the Premier League.”

Winston though was coming from captaining a Danish club team in European competition, after coming through the Danish system and age group teams. Wood has had to scrap a bit more and you would expect Winston's technique to be a little better.

Leicester lost today but Chris got on again.

Played full 90 minutes tonight in League Cup defeat to Shrewsbury.

Wood one of seven players making their first starts of of the season in a largely second string side (three u-21 squad players started).

surely these league cup games are a gold-mine for the on to it punters. Take any of the lower EPL sides who expect to struggle against relegation or a championship side hell bent on promotion and mix with a league one club with pluck and a point to prove.

The first team want a quick out so they can concentrate on achieving their goal with-out wasting their time on 5 more cup games before eventually losing anyway yet people are silly enough to bet on the EPL team due to reputation alone.

Looks like David McGoldrick may move from Ipswich to Leicester. Looking at his stats is this guy really worth that much? He's another player for Wood to compete with but his goal scoring record doesn't seem to be so great. I don't know if he is worth 8 million pounds.
