Most players rated highly by their clubs actually play for the first team.

I hope he gets a chance as I think he is more than capable at that level, but needs a decent chance first.

They wouldn't have let him train with another club whilst he was on Olywhites duty in Aussie either.

yeah, was a great free kick by the sounds of it. Also got 2 assists in a 5-2 win.

Never understood why people assumed he was coming back here - yeah his girlfriend works here now, but he’s rated highly by the club and fans and will be in the first team very soon. Can’t see why he’d give his European career up in such a promising position to make an impact, and come to Kiwitea or something.

What makes you say he'll be first team? Nothing to indicate that so far. From what I've heard both parties want out of the contract - him to play football and Scodhorpe to free up wage budget.

Guess we'll see. There's even less to indicate him leaving. He was a starter at the end of last season in the middle of a relegation battle in a tougher league with more competition for spots.

This isn't some aging plodder, the kid's 22. Plenty of plausible reasons why he isn't playing this season - was injured for the start of the season, and now after just coming back from overseas he may be considered unfit or hasn't had enough training time with the squad to get familiar with the new manager, etc. Fans on twitter are calling for him to start as well

I think letting him piss of to the other side of the world for a month and train with another club while his club faces relegation is a pretty strong indication he's not wanted.

Have seen Scodhorpe fans say he's not worth the time of day on social media as well as some wanting him in - same disagreements as most fanbases I think.

Would love to see him make it there, would love to see him at the Nix. Just hope whatever he decides is best for his career, because he still has the potential to become a good footballer, just feels like he's treading water at the moment. ACFC would be a backward step.

This is the key point - if he was a serious part of their plan going forward, there is no way they let him go away for 6 weeks or whatever it was during the season in which they're struggling to get points to play in some tin pot Olympic qualifying tournament.

Scun-thorpe had a 1-1 win draw at Salford, and remain 3rd last (one above the relegation spots).

No Lewis in match day squad.

Moral victory perhaps. Yes that is a typo.

Hope he get's a look in soon, seems a waste to be not even making match day squads. I guess time will tell though.

Aware of that, and is all well and good, but is it going to be leading to a call up to the first team?

Or, if they wanted him in the first team, they wouldn't have released him to go to the U23s at all?

Fair point, got me on that one. But all together I just hope he can make it there or in Europe because I think that he is to good to come back and way to young.

I don't disagree, but the current evidence suggests that it won't be at Scun-Thorpe.

Have to be a free agent at the close of the previous window so he wont be here before January

short term stint at ACFC to get fit, then he jumps onto the NIX train.

Can he be signed as an injury replacement or as a guest player outside the window?

If it was pre A-League he would settle into a nice halfwa gig with the Kingz

Talays says today they will keep an eye on Lewis who becomes a free agent in January.

Positive news! Hopefully, he can get back by then even a week or two later isn't too bad as last season he only made it back for the last regular season game.
