22 player squad apparently so it explains some of the above names being included.

And with Fitzgerald being called up it hopefully will stop all those individuals who still seem to question his eligibility to play for us.

The worry wasn't his eligibility, but that his loyalty and the demands of his club side might have made him make himself unavailable. There were reports his club weren't particularly happy the first time he got picked. Should take it to the Fitzgerald thread I guess...

Glad he's there potentially but what was your point Hawk, he wouldn't be a squad filler unlike Bright.

Point is you can't compare a wide player with a target man. Smeltz, Killen and Wood out. He's hardly a filler

I don't disagree but there was no need for Bright in the last squad, maybe there is this time due to injuries.

Scored what turned out to be the decisive goal and created the first one in a 2-1 home win v mighty Goteborg, third on the table & one of the biggest clubs in Sweden who play in a 19,000 capacity stadium:

http://int.soccerway.com/matches/2013/10/27/sweden/allsvenskan/mjallby-aif/ildrottsforeningen-kamraterna-goteborg/1446705/

Sounds like Craig is on fire with the Mexico games on the horizon:

http://www.maif.se/

"...Football-wise, they saw an entertaining match. Even after 6 minutes broke Craig Henderson past his defender and sent the ball at the ground in front of IFK case where John Alvbåge got his fingers on it, but dropped it to return as Kristian Haynes could broadside it in. The management was expanded in first half stoppage here a failed Gothenburg passing ended up with Andreas Blomqvist who could put a butter pass to Craig Henderson who in turn bombed the ball inside the post, goalie no chance. The management at halftime could have been both 2 and 3 goals more after a failed neutral by Haynes, the crossbar of Blomqvist and a misdirected header after a corner of Pearl...."

The first win under new head coach Lasse Jacobsson.

One game left Sunday (3 am Mon NZT) v Kalmar

10th on 16 team table but a win on the weekend could take them up to 8th or 9th if other results go their way...

Phew!!! That would be gross bad luck on top of his previous injury history!
But no, checked on the Mjallby website - missing due to accumulation of yellow cards. Relief !!!
Hope he makes the All Whites squad -he's had a good season and has become an important player for his side.
Swedish season now over - Mjallby finished eleventh on the 16 team table. Malmo won the league, with Goteborg and AIK taking the Europa League births.

With Rojas doubtful with injury you would think that Craig would have the attacking left side locked in for the AW's. He's really impressed me in the games I have seen this season. Scoring goals and linking play very well. We need guys like him who are match fit and playing at a good level.

Interesting!

Some reports just coming out of Sweden and Norway have Craig signing for Stabaek in Norway, who have a new coach, high-profile former US national team coach Bob Bradley who was Egyptian national coach until November last year:

BÆRUM / OSLO: Newly promoted Stabæk  has secured a reinforcement before coming season in New Zealander Craig Henderson.

26-year-old has played for Allsvenskan club Mjallby recent seasons, and an agreement is already in the box. It will probably be signed Friday or one of the next few days.

It confirms the Sports Director Stabæk , Inge André Olsen, facing online newspaper Thursday.

- The agreement is in order, yes. I've been away for a few days, and that's the only reason it has not been finalized yet. It could happen as early as tomorrow, says Olsen to online newspaper.

Also Stabæk  coach Bob Bradley considered the agreement as ready as online newspaper visited Thursday's Stabæk  training in Bærum Idrettspark.

The fresh Stabæk  coach is confident that Henderson may be an important contributor to a young Stabæk  team next season.

- He's had a couple of seasons in Sweden, has done well and will provide quality in our team. He can play both left and right, are good with both legs and work hard, says Bradley to the online newspaper.

Henderson played college football for Darmouth Big Green for three years before he signed for Mjallby in 2010.

In October last year he made his debut for New Zealand's national team in a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago. He was also on the field in a World Cup qualifying match against Mexico a month late

Craig Henderson leaves Mjällby AIFby Fredrik Persson

On Wednesday, it became official: Mjallby AIF's midfielder Craig Henderson has done its in the association.

Craig Henderson leaves the club and leaves a non-negligible gap behind him in the starting eleven.

After the repeated injury troubles that characterized Craig Henderson's time in Mjallby, then appeared the national team qualified midfielder from New Zealand that he was injury-free is a highly skilled footballer.

26-year-old played 25 games in Mjallby last year.

We now aim Craig Henderson vidar against new targets.

Probable club address is Norwegian Stabaek although his agent, Patrick McCabe, chooses to lie low:

"He leaves Mjallby, but I can not say which club," said Patrick McCabe.

Mjallby's own website etc.still have Henderson as part of the Mjallby squad and have made no announcement, so nothing is finalised yet:

Stabak have picked up former Parma and Argentinian Primera (Tigres) centre-back Pablo Fontanello on transfer deadline day who has fled the Ukrainian troubles at Odessa and has Europa League experience in the Ukraine.

One thing I've found with internet searches for "Stabæk Fotball" (the Norwegian name of the club) is since there is no English equivalent for the letter "æ" it's better to search for "Stabak" rather than "Stabaek" for example.

This was a very smart move recently promoted club should ensure solid game time.I would put Norway ahead of Sweden in terms of competition quality as well. Swedens national team is much better but there competition weaker. We should be looking at a midfield diamond of

    Thomas-Wood-Rojas

   Henderson-McGinchley

               Keat

At least until Tuiloma can crack the starting XI or get regular bench spots

Really, I'm not so sure about that.  Norway is a smaller country, with the highest cost of living in Europe (probably also the highest standard of living) but Swedish football is seen as being stronger then Norway at club level here in the UK.

I think its touch and go but Norways teams in total are valued at a total of 145 million pounds with each player worth an average 385 000 pounds Vs 100 million pounds for swedens teams combined and then per player 270,000. This is going of transfermarket

Norway: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/tippeligaen/startseite/wettbewerb_NO1.html

Sweden: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/allsvenskan/startseite/wettbewerb_SE1.html

Transfermarket update player values at least twice a year so it is pretty accurate. Some number of team per comp as well 50 million difference in competition value I would say is enough to ateast have each competition on par with the other. Just my opinion anyways.

But it also has Brockie valued at 500K euros.

And Jeremy Christie at 150K euros.

Thats true but those values are given to all players whom are in similar situations as those mentioned above. Anyway all I was trying to say is that the quality is similar in the most part Sweden Vs Norway

Can't rely on those transfer values on transfermarkt.com - they are just guess work and speculation.

Quality of the Swedish league is considerably better than Norway. More so than is suggested by the difference in UEFA co-efficients (used to determine number of European places for clubs): Sweden is currently ranked 23 and Norway 28.

Sweden pop. =  9,645,000

Norway pop. = 5,000,000

A lot of the clubs in Norway's top league are pretty small with ground capacities of 5000 - 7000

There are only a handful of bigger clubs such as Rosenberg (ground capacity 21,850), Brann (17,317) and Viking (16,300)

Beneath that a couple with 11,000 .

Henderson's club Stabak have a ground capacity of only 7000

Sweden has more larger clubs such as AIK Stockholm (capacity 54,329 - 30.650 attended their first game of the season last weekend),

Djurgardens (30,000), Malmo (24,000), Gothenberg (18,800) , Norkopping (17,324), Elfsborg (16,899), Helsingborg (16,673), Halmstad (15,500), Orebro (14,500), Kalmar (12,100)

A few clubs below that with capacities of 7000 to 10,000

Dan Keat's newly promoted Falkenberg are the smallest club with ground capacity of 5288.

Other stats:

Sweden: One club made the European Cup Final (Malmo 1979), one other the semis, six times in the 1/4 finals of Euro Cup / Chmps Lge.

Norway: Only once has a club made it to the 1/4 finals of the European Cup / Chmps Lge.

I agree, its a step back I think.  Maybe he thought the money was too good to refuse, but didn't quite take the cost of living in to consideration maybe or is just on generally better coin after living costs etc.
