Odd that the article currently on the homepage doesn't mention former Galaxy player Simon Elliott in it's list of Kiwi's who graced the MLS. wolfman2011-01-19 21:01:06

That article on the homepage is phenomenally well researched, given the low profile of this guy. Either that or he actually wrote it himself. Kudos either way

"Keat is also notable for having a strong striking partnership with George Paladini during his time at Lolbutts United, the two combining for a massive 206 goals in one season..."

Funny that Wayne Rooney's brother John got picked up in the draft

They signed Juan Pablo Angel as well. Good environment for Keat to go into with Angel, Becks and Donovan there. Hopefully he gets on the paddock.

Yup. I still have a feeling no Kiwis are going to be playing in the MLS in 2011

Fantastic news. He must have really caught their eye with consistent performances, given eh was unable to play at all in trials. Hope he can have as good a career there as Elliott, or even launch himself from here to even greater things.

Must be in consideration for a NZ  spot for the upcoming friendlies. McG, Brown and Keat all looking for a spot. Great to have some added competition.

Should be returning to full training sessions pretty soon after his minor injury. So I Don't think that Herbert will call him for the next friendlies

Not too worried. Realistically wouldn't crack the squad at the moment, especially if it's an 18-man squad. Let him bide his time in LA first.
Keat is injured too. From that very article:
His injury might have cost him a chance elsewhere in the league...

Yeah but he's picked injured players in the 30. it's just a case of MF being a cluster f**k

KEAT RETURNS

Rookie Daniel Keat has returned to the practice field for the Galaxy, starting initial ball work on Monday after six weeks out of practice. Keat cracked his heel during the first game of the combine, but was chosen by the Galaxy in the supplemental draft. Despite not playing, the former Dartmouth standout was signed to a contract by the team. Keat admits that the confidence that Arena has shown in him has him motivated to make an impact in his rookie season.

Its been frustrating to miss the first six weeks of preseason, but Ive been itching to play and maybe it will end up helping me in the end, said Keat. [Arena] has had a lot of confidence in me to stick with me through this time and theyve told me to be patient and keep working hard so it can work out.

Yes it seems that the injury takes longer to heal:

On the other side, newly acquired forward Adam Cristman is battle inflammation in his left knee, while New Zealand international Dan Keat is suffering from a left heel fracture. Both will sit this match out.

Do they have a reserve league for him to get match fitness with?
