Dan Keat is named despite having been released by the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Wellington midfielder is now exploring opportunities in Europe but could be a target for the Phoenix, depending on who they hire as their coach.

Maybe it's just a true reflection of how good/bad Dan Keat is. Ricki Herbert didn't want him to come here when he was cut by the Galaxy so why would an overseas Phoenix coach want him?

Do we really need another DM? Ricki could have asked him, we don't know.

i think he'd do well in the a league. plying your trade in the lower leagues in europe won't get it done. he'll be steven old in three short moves

Domey said on the pod that Dan Keat was not in Ricki's plans.

Ok, but the point stands. Would we really need another DM? We have 3 on the books for next season already.

Keat won't be playing for IFK Mariehamn

The trio Jeremiah Ani, Gustavo Ribeiro and Dan Keat will be to seek happiness elsewhere. For Alonzo Adlam and Kuutti Mujunen the door is still open.

-We have not offered them a contract in the current situation. We will discuss their future more at the end of the week. First I want to get answers from a striker as I waited for a long time, says Peter Mattsson.

So is Keat still trialling in Finland? The post said waiting on answer from striker and article in paper mentions Kris Bright so they must be in negotiations.

Well we went for Isaka Cernak instead and it's not like we're short of AMs either.

He was trialing, and was not signed up. Think they were looking for a forward, so that obviously counted against him.

I think this is a bit if a disaster for NZ. Aging vicelich, clapham trialing but picking up nothing in malaysia and keat in 2nd tier sweden.

Maybe this move highlights his actual ability.

We need Payne and Howieson to develop quick!

yeah perhaps (ability). falkenberg recently signed a sophomore at college in the US as well. payne and howieson really arent going to be playing that holding midfield/central role though. howieson is suited wide left and payne (purely on evidence from solomons) is better suited in his natural position upfront or just behind the striker.

Without seeing highlights I'm not sure about Paynes best position. Ultimately it will be whatever one his club develops. Still think he has potential as a DM

Dan straight into the starting eleven soon after arrival:

Played first game of the new season, full game, 10 April  2-0 away win v Orgryte (crowd 2513) & one of four Falkenbergers to get a yellow card in the last half hour:

http://www.soccerway.com/matches/2013/04/09/sweden/superettan/orgryte-ildrottssalskap/falkenbergs-fotbollsforening/1420746/

Played full match in 2-1 home win over Ljungskile last weekend (crowd 1321):

Falkenberg are one of three teams topping the table on six points after two rounds.

Dan is the only foreigner in their squad.

Dan Keat and Falkenberg have really started the Swedish Second Div. season with a bang and lead the table on maximum nine points from three games after an away win last Sunday vs. Varnamo and a home win 1-0 vs. Hammerby this morning NZ time. Dan has played every minute for Falkenberg so far.

Dan Keat has adjusted to life in Sweden playing all but 18 minutes of the Superettan season to date.  The All Whites midfielder picked up his third yellow card of the six games played to date over the weekend as Falkenberg suffered their first defeat in the league 4-1 at Assyriska.  Falkenberg are third in the table on goal difference.

Very tidy finish.

The wall is a disgrace for that first goal.

Dan nabbed his second goal of the season in a 4-2 away win over the wonderfully named Jonkopings Sodra a week ago.

Falkenberg now level on points at top of the table with Orebro.
