Signed a professional contract with Chattanooga FC in Tennessee in March. They play in the newly formed NISA, at the third level of US football (how many leagues do they want?)

Jared Odenbeck, who was one of Wests' two American imports last year is also playing in NISA for Stumptown Athletic.

It's the 5th tier of US Football, according to Soccerway.

https://us.soccerway.com/national/united-states/nisa/2019/spring-season/r55359/

Are 3 levels of USL above NISA - Championship (35 teams), League One (12 teams) & League Two (82 teams in many sub divisions).

Though with no pro/rel in the American leagues I understand, I guess you could debate if NISA is higher up the pyramid or not.

There is already a team from Chattanooga (Red Wolves) playing higher apparently in League One.

For those of an older vintage.

US Soccer designates the professional competitions into three tiers and at various times there have been multiple leagues designated at the same level. MLS is tier one, USL Championship is tier two, and USL League One and NISA are tier three.

NISA was initially affiliated to the now-defunct NASL which was a tier two league alongside USL Championship.

USL League Two is officially amateur and so does not have a designation.

In Hamilton, Erik Panzer is a mental performance coach, who brings both playing experience and a background in psychology to his work with individuals, clubs and school teams.

“There has to be a purpose behind what you’re doing,” he explains.

“Teenagers who’ve been playing since they were young kids may not have thought about their ‘why’. It’s very different to be playing football because parents are pushing you, to playing because your mates play, to playing because you always have, compared to playing from an internal love of the game.”

Erik Panzer.

He talks about the influence of social media — especially Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat — leading to external motivations driving some players (the money, cars, life and prestige of a Premier League player), and how these are not sustainable drivers when things get harder.

Panzer has had a football career that’s taken him all over the world, including a football scholarship to university in the United States, where he completed an undergraduate degree in psychology.

He’s played professionally and semi-professionally in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Panzer was part of Melville United’s Chatham Cup final side in 2023.
