Stanger an unused sub in a 0-3 loss.

Looks like in recent weeks, Killies have gone to a back 4, ie only need 2 CBs

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock are deep in the trenches having lost 1-0 to Falkirk on the weekend. Their horrendous form has left them only three points above last place Livingston, who have a game in hand on them – we’re talking just two points from their past 11 league matches here. Killie are in dire straits. George Stanger was an unused substitute in that game, dropping back out of the team again.

He’s only started one of the last six... though this latest instance was different
because manager Stuart Kettlewell, who signed Stanger for the club, got sacked last week. Kris Doolan has taken over as interim boss and he went with a back four in the loss against Falkirk whereas most of Stanger’s opportunities have come in a back three.

Stanger unused sub in a 0-0 draw
Killies have a back 3/5 and GS plays, but if it’s a back 4 like this game he doesn’t

Unused sub in a 1-2 loss.

This long lack of playing time, will be hurting Stanger's World Cup chances.

Noting Pijnaker is now back playing in the ALM, and Tuiloma likely to very soon as well.

No sign of George Stanger for the latter once again... seems increasingly likely that he’ll be loaned out to a second tier club to get his minutes up in hope of World Cup selection, having fallen entirely out of favour (for no obvious reason) since they changed managers at Killie.

Killies go down to 10 men in the 4th min at Ibrox and that only means a long night.

They get thashed 5-1 by Rangers. Stanger watches it all from the pine.

Edit - Motherwell's match at Dundee postponed.

No Stanger as Killies lose 2-3 to the Hoops.

Niche Cache mentioned a chance Stanger may go out on loan to a 2nd tier club.
Don't think he's played since Kilmarnock changed their gaffer.

Stanger an unused sub as Killies get thrashed 5-1.

Kilmarnock (11th/2nd last) are lucky Livingston (last) are pretty woeful with only 1 win in 29 SPL games. Killies with a 7 point buffer.

Only the last placed team is automatically relegated.

Another full game for Stanger and another win
2-0
Wonder if he might get a late call up for the AW if Bills injury is worse then  first thought? I’m assuming Hughes might have stitches and a wee concussion ruling him out

Nice to see Stanger get two starts, and struggling Killies 2 wins.

Issue re any potential late AWs callup for a lame Billy T, is getting a plane seat at such late notice.

The Iran war is causing travel chaos. Probably a bit of stress around NZF HQ at the moment booking alternative flights if required. Lucky they have that FIFA windfall to fork out on last minute expensive alternative flight options in need. Finnish, Cape Verde and Chilean FAs likely facing similar issues getting their European based guys down under. A bit like the Covid years.

I'd say any late AWs replacements will be from the ALM. So Hughes (if fit) or LKH for Tuiloma. Or maybe Storm Roux, and Payne moved to be CB cover.

Yeah i stupidly wasn’t thinking about flights and the war when I wrote that, so definitely think you are right that any cover would come from ALM.

Great to see him be given a chance and the turn around in their fortune. If they can maintain their revival (even if just partially) he has a good chance of being a starter from the get go next season if he maintain his spot - which based on the last two results he should.

Have the fans said anything about him?
