Hopefully for him the Morality Police in Teheran don’t Google some of his music videos

Bit odd that as a rapper he will get to play in his 2nd predominantly Muslim country
Huh, looks like I spoke too soon about what men can get away with in Iran

To be fair and without much info.... the league probably isn't that far off the a league. So he's landed in an okay place if he can get some mins..

The league is light and day better then A League. If he can play regularly and not get distracted by music (or his ego?), could prove to be a great move for him and us.  He'll also have access to the best kebabs in the world too!

And while Iran calls itself a Muslim country, aside from it's dictators is anything but (talking as someone with VERY STRONG Persian connections). It's certainly not Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

Someone above commented on getting behind on pay. I'm not surprised with this one given Iran is one of the very few countries excluded from the international banking system. I wonder if his pay is being put into a UAE, Turkish or maybe even British bank account?
Yeah, it's an interesting place, although it is a Muslim country that practices Shariah law they've had to shut two thirds of their mosques over the last few years because of growing irreligiosity, something like 10% of the country are openly atheist and another 20% are agnostic.
The best way to make something unpopular is to make it compulsory

Insulting the prophet. That will do it. If he'd just kept the lyrics to misogyny he would have been fine. Perhps best JOWIC puts the music career on hold for a wee while in Teheran

Interesting Tataloo was extradited from Turkey to Iran. Usually the Turks and Iranians are not on friendly terms.

Heard a comment on the radio the other day from him about why he left AFC, sounds like he just doesnt like Auckland, said something like he came spent time in the city and training and just felt an he needed to be elsewhere. Does he have family in Auckland that he doesnt get on with?

That was such a weak article. Surely there was more to it... he didn't even get a min of game time.

It’s clear Auckland didn’t feel Champness was giving his football the dedication required

“We wish Joey all the best in his football and business career” or similar farewell post

Some rumours he was skipping trainings?? Perhaps he’s better in a club environment where English is a 2nd language.

So hard to tell where he's at. He is quality at his best...

Hopefully he does well over there and gives us another option for the AWs.

69 mins in a 0-0 draw with Zob Ahan.

Matt Millar (who was implicated in the MAC yellow card scandal?) an unused sub.

Havadar remain last, 7 points from safety.

Havadar (16th/last) travel to superbly named Tractor (2nd)

Some comments of JOWIC on Niche Cache this week.

.........there was the sorry situation with Joey Champness, who got injured during preseason and then was never seen again. He didn’t make a single matchday squad before being mercifully released about a month ago... and it sounds like they were pretty happy to see him go.

Champness has since signed with a club in Iran and he last week had a chat with the NZ Herald in which he claimed his departure was down to wanting to test himself overseas during his “prime years” of football. That’s quite a line for a bloke who’s had three separate breaks from football of at least nine months prior to the age of 27. Especially since he also used the opportunity to promote his new startup tech business, self-described as “the world’s first social investment network”.

Havadar down 1-0 after 30 mins. Champness starts.

Ediot - finishes a 4-0 loss for last placed Havadra with Tractor now top of the league. Prime career JOWIC not yet helping his Iranian club.

He was off at 87 mins (4-0). Matt Millar made his club debut coming off the pine mid first half.

Turkey, Saudi and Iran are much friendlier with each other then played out in media. A lot of that has to do with their dictators all being very pro Islam.

Champness off at 65 mins (Havadar up 1-0), in a 2-1 win.
A goal each team post 90 mins.

Havadar still last, 6 points from safety. Was only their 2nd win in 19 games.

Havadar lose 0-1.
Champness an unused sub. Matt Millar off early at 42 mins.

Havadar look pretty doomed to relegation, 8 pts from safety with 9 games left.
2 victories all season from 21 games.

Havadar (16th/last) host Shams Azar Qazvin (14th).

A chance for Havadar to get a win? They do look doomed for the drop.
9 pts from safety with 8 games left. Only 2 wins in 22 league games.

Wonder if during Ramadan (28th Feb-30th March) it's been early morning & evening trainings only for Havadar.

So Havadar lose 2-3 and that really feels like a big nail in their relegation coffin.

Both ex ALM guys start the game on the pine.

Matt Millar on at HT (0-2) to score Havadar's first goal (58 mins). Champness comes on at 76 mins (1-3), and 1 minute later gets the assist for the 2nd goal.

I imagine neither fancy being Iran's 2nd football tier. So their agents already putting the feelers out.

80 mins Champness (2-1) & full game Millar as Havadar get an upset 2-1 road win.
Havadar do however remain last, still 8 points from safety.

Champness 80 mins (1-0) and Millar a full game in a 2-0 won. Malavan had a player sent off in the first half.

Consecutive wins but Havadar are still last, 6 pts from safety. Do have a game in hand.

Full games Millar & Champness in a 1-1 draw. Havadar conceding in the 95th min, so very close to making it 3 consecutive wins.

Remain last and 5 pts from safety.

Havadar (last/16th, 19 pts) host Mes Rafsanjan (14th, 24 pts).

Big game. Relegation 6 pointer. Bottom 2 teams to be relegated.

If Havadar won they would close within 2 pts of Mes Rafsanjan and then have a chance at least to overtake them. In form Havadar also having a game in hand. 5 league games left.

If he keeps getting mins and starts scoring more he could be a bolter for an upcoming squad.

Only thing is he seems to have some attitude problems..

Nah Champness burnt too many bridges given the way he left Auckland. I'm sure the ex Walsall mafia have regular coffee catchups in Albany. Corica/Hay wouldn't have spoken highly of JOWIC to Bazeley. Hay & Baze know his character back to Hay's days as AWs coach.

Overnight Champness was subbed off at HT (0-2) and replaced by Millar as Havadar lost 0-4 at home. They went down to 10 men at 61 mins (0-3). They also failed to convert a pen early 2nd half (0-2). Just not their day.

They look doomed for relegation, so presumably in a month or so Joey C will be looking for a new club. Or maybe that's his football career done. And it's full time music and building apps as a vocation.

Full game Millar, but no Champness in match day squad in a 2-2 draw.

3 league games left, and Havadar are 7 pts from safety. Lose their next game and relegation is confirmed.

0-0 draw and with that Havadar (21 pts, -29 GD) are basically relegated.

With 2 games left the only team thay can catch is Mes Rafsanjan (27 pts, -13 GD), and the goal difference spread is just way too much.

Matt Millar came off the pine at 68 mins. No Champness. Maybe he has already left Iran and is in a music studio somewhere near you.

1-1 draw. Havadar officially relegated, with 1 game left.

No Champness (10 games, no goals) or Millar. What next for JOWIC?

Havadar lose 2-0, finish last and are yes relegated.

Neither Champness or Matt Millar featured.

Would Millar be a useful Nix squad pickup?  Can he play LB? Don't think he was ever charged over the Macarthur yellow card scandal.

In light of recent events hope our Jowic managed to high tail it out of Iran post season before it all got too heavy.

Would we take him at the Nix next season or is the relationship a bit sour between him and NZ football in general?
