Recent NZ U-20 call up Harry Casci putting it where the spiders live to win it for Western United II on the weekend.
24 Jun 10:54
Casci came off the pine for NZU20s their 2nd game in Chile.

Seemed a creative spark for a U20s team that otherwise, seems to lack a quality midfielder like Singh in 2019, or to a lesser extent Conchie & Herdman in 2023.

Might see more of him for the 25/26 campaign if Western aren't able to register any new players as has been touted. Well, that's assuming Western United still exist by then...

Fully deserves this chance. Lads been on fire since moving to Australia midway through 2024.

Scored a banger on debut last night for Sydney Olympic too.

Good stuff.

Hopefully they have also have a look at his Kiwi mate Seth Clark (team mates at both Edgeworth & Sydney Olympioc). It may even be Clark who heads the ball to Feutz to score that goal.

Feutz's trial at the Jets completed? Or just trialling there midweek between weekend NPL games for Sydney Olympic?

https://mens.nplnsw.com.au/2025/07/20/olympic-embarrassed-by-hungry-rangers/

Olympic came close to halving the deficit in the 31st and 32nd minute, with the first seeing Ryan Feutz dribble the ball into the box and release a shot that was blocked by Danilo Doce Monteiro.

The second chance came through Seth Clark as the Kiwi unleashed a solid shot from the left that went out off the right post.

Feutz proved a handful again in the 35th minute with a similar dribble to the one for his first chance, with the winger cutting in well from the left only to have his shot blocked again by the Mt Druitt defence.

Sydney Olympic: 1. Jack Gibson, 5. Ziggy Gordon, 9. Cyrus Dehmie (16. Bailey Callaghan 75’), 10. Jack Armson, 11. Adam Parkhouse (7. Michael Vakis 80’), 12. Zac Zoricich (3. Connor O’Toole 46’), 14. Seth Clark, 18. Teng Kuol, 19. Ryan Freutz, 22. Dylan Ruiz-Diaz (15. Luca Pecora 46’), 28. Samuel Bosnjak

Was talking to a guy who had been watching some Newcastle preseason stuff. He had a chat with Feutz and apparently Olympic only allowed him to go on trial for five days.

Which seems...odd.

He did say that it's not the end of it and that he may be invited back, but yeah, the whole situation sounds a bit ho hum. Hopefully he gets another crack though.

Hattrick for Feutz last night in NSW NPL action as Sydney Olympic mauled Manly 5-1 to move into the top six, although there are games to be played over the course of the weekend.

Five goals in six games since his move from Edgeworth Eagles a month or so ago now.

Not Kiwi related but Adam Parkhouse scored one of those 5 goals, good strike this

Wonder if the Jets are stilling looking at Feutz?
See they signed a 22 yr old defender Joel Bertolissio from APIA Leichhardt. So scouting the NPL leagues.

Fellow Kiwi Seth Clark with the assist for Feutz's 2nd goal. They also played together at Edgeworth

Ryan Fuetz in there as well.

Shows the depth in the national U20 CB stocks, that Fransen (WSW youth) is unlikely to make Greeny's WC team. He only turned 18 in March this year, so I'm guessing he will still be eligible for 2027 U20 WC.

George Ott will be in the Victorian NPL team of the week if they even do it.

A goal and three assists for the 🦦 tonight against South Melbourne. It's 5-0, not quite at F/T.

The involvements - He is #9 for reference.

Assist #1 - Excellent use of his big frame to lay it off for a team mate in the box.

Assist #2 - Thought this was a saved/smothered shot, but he cleverly dinks it back to a team mate to smash it home.

Assist #3 - Lovely. Back to goal, two touches, a chest down and away from the defender coming in from behind and releases a pass with the second touch into acres of space for an on rushing Kur Kur to tuck home.

Goal - Back to goal again. Picks up the ball from a shot outside the box, turns and puts it in the roof of the net.

Guess South Melbourne will be sick of seeing Kiwi strikers after this week.

Hopefully Avondale can do the business midweek & we might get to see two Kiwi strikers go head to head, if Ben Gibson's Jets progress past Macarthur.

Jaysus- yes, please! Just the kind of bench option we don’t have. And I love that though he’s a big guy, they’re predominantly playing to his feet and he’s rewarding that approach.
I’d love to see him there as a strike partner for Supyk or as an option B by himself.

Some high quality stuff there from Ott. Bit of a caveat. Likely not the strongest South Melbourne side. They played Heidelberg in the Dockerty Cup final last weekend, and of course had a very tough Australia Cup R16 game against Auckland FC mid week. On the other hand their NPL season (sitting 9th) is basically over, nothing really to play for.

Unfortunately doubt the Nix will be interested in bringing Ott back to the club. All about giving increased mins to Supyk, either alongside Eze, or replacing him late in games. Flowerdew next cab off the Weenix striker rack. Though Supyk's contract finishes at the end of this ALM season, so he maybe is on the move next year unless he extends.

Ott's best bet of a full time pro gig might be one of the 2 NZ clubs in the new OFC Pro League. Or even as a visa player with one of the Island teams in that league.

Yes Avondale host Brisbane City in their Australia Cup quarter, so a great chance to get into a semi against either the Jets or Macarthur. As well as Ott they have 2 other Kiwis in Daniel Edwards and Emlyn Wellsmore.

The VIC NPL title going down to the last round.
Heidelberg (25 games, 56 pts). 1 game left
Avondale (24 games, 55 pts). 2 games left

Ott 5 goals in 11 NPL games. Was out for 4 months (early April to early August).

Feutz continues to impress.

Happy to see this him continue to get this sort of coverage.

Had it suggested to me that he would be a decent bolter for a Nix deal. And on current form I wouldnt say no. Would be relatively cheap, and could provide us with another goal option up top either as a #9, or coming in off the left wing as he frequently does.

For context he has 58 goals across his last 42 club appearances, and 8 in his first 8 appearances for Sydney Olympic.

Was there some recent club comments that the Nix were still looking at 1-2 local player signings?

Now that Ellis is ruled out could yes Feutz be one on their radar?

Complicating factor is that he may not be far off being able to apply for Aus citizenship. Same his good mate and Olympic team mate Seth Clark. I’ve just applied. You need 3 years cumulative living in Aus in a 4 year period.

Obviously if they are Aussies there is 12-13 ALM pro clubs (WU?) they become non visas for, rather than just 2 NZ teams. Potential conundrum for any Kiwi footballer approaching 3 years living in Aus, that gets feelers from Nix or AFC

Shaun Gill and Giancarlo Italiano pick up the phone for promising kiwis instead of Aussie journeymen challenge: impossible

Bruno Fornaroli signs for Avondale in The Championship. That is gonna limit The Otter's playing chances :/

Feutz with a pretty decent game, capped by this pearler. He had hit one from a similar spot 15-20 minutes earlier that hit the post and bounced away.

South Melbourne were the better side though, and they used the conditions better (quite windy) and ultimately they come away with a 3-2 win in front of 6800+ at Lakeside.

With the Sydney Olympic owner effectively running CCM now, he could easily end up on their books in January.

Came on for Bruno Fornaroli (who also scored for the avengers) only minutes earlier.

Bit of a quiet Australian Championship for Feutz, but nets his 2nd of the tournament with a beauty of a free kick.

He's since gone on to grab a double for the day as well.

Former Auckland United winger Daniel Atkinson has joined Australian club FK Beograd.

Atkinson (22) made 65 appearances for Northern League side Auckland United after joining them from Dutch professional club VV Katwijk in 2024.

Before heading to the Netherlands in 2022, Atkinson trained full time with the Wellington-based Olé Academy and played for Central League side Western Suburbs.

Adelaide-based FK Beograd play in the NPL South Australia league.

18-year-old Fransen has quietly been one of Western Sydney Youth’s better performers, even through a tough run of results. Consistently posting solid ratings week to week, he looks close to knocking on the door.

Nope, looks a pretty complete list that. More Kiwis at that level than there has been in recent years it feels anyway.

Only other name I can think of is Aaron Cartwright at Melbourne City who might be another one to keep an eye out for, although he isn't listed in that City squad.

Off the field, Jeff Fleming is now the assistant coach at Preston Lions as well.

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2026/02/23/new-zealand-midfielder-and-striker-join-melbourne-club-green-gully/

Melbourne club Green Gully have signed New Zealanders Wan Gatkek and Nathan Simes for their new NPL Victoria campaign.

Midfielder Gatkek (25) joins Green Gully from Northern League champions Western Springs, who he joined in 2023 after playing in Wellington for Miramar Rangers, Western Suburbs and Team Wellington.

Wellington-born striker Simes (22) was a teammate of Gatkek at Miramar Rangers, and he also played for Western Suburbs.

Simes spent the last four years in the American college system, most recently with Wofford College in South Carolina.

Though the pair had played together in Wellington, neither realised they would be reuniting at Green Gully till they signed.

Watgek and Simes join another Kiwi at Green Gully, 15-cap All White defender Deklan Wynne, who joined the club in late 2024 after spells in the United States, Canada and England.
