I doubt some. Kiwis playing in the mls would ever be considered good enough for the k league

why do we have this idea that if a player is playing overseas he must be good enough for the All Whites?

How much better is the K-League than the A-League? (if it is) If he'd gone to China or the MLS then people would have a point

he's a winger who has only scored twice in nearly 100 games - only Sarpong had a similar record to that

If he'd been good enough he would have been called up by now (especially when Anfony was giving caps to everyone)

Need an undo button when hit ‘This’ by mistake.

He was rubbish with WSW, rubbish with us  rubbish with CCM and I would be fairoy safe in saying he will be not much better than rubbish in Korea.

Why do you think that people with greater footballing knowledge than the majority of us, are prepared to pay good money and play him in a superior league to the A League?

you need a list of all professional footballers who have never reached potential and ultimately been considered flops ?

That's just silly. What is your yard stick in determining if you are a flop or not? If his aim was to be a professional footballer - then he will have achieved that by now.

No what is actually silly i people building Appiah up to be something he will never be. Yes he may be something we will never be, a professional  footballer, but has he reached the levels that he was initially touted to reach? Nope and he never will.

One thing I have learnt in many years involvement in the game is that if you can not control a bag of wet cement  when you are 16 or 17, things are very unlikely to get a whole lot better as you get older. Yes he has pace, but  that does not last forever and when that starts to fade what will he have?

Maybe he will end up getting a run with the national side, it seems to be the way things happen nowadays, instead of a coach looking at players, they simply give them a cap in some meaningless game, but seriously is he the sort of player you think will be a success at All Whites level? Or is hies unique style of play the way you would like to see the All Whites follow?

He has scored two goals in close to 100 professional games, and given he is hardly a prolific supplier of "assists"  I just simply think the All Whites have many many better options available at the moment

well this is bollocks

87 mins before being subbed as Incheon lose 2-3 at home. Appiah with a yellow.

Score was 2-2 when subbed off.

Home crowd 3,000 and Incheon remain 2nd last - so obviously not biggest nor most successful club in the K League. But he remains a starter in the league so must be playing ok.

Isn't the k league also better than MLS and the Chinese super league?

MLS definitely the best, followed by the K-League, and the A-League pretty close behind that (best teams in the A-League are better than most in the K-League). CSL is hard to place since they have superstars but most of their squads are trash, quality wise it’s probably behind all of them

I can't argue with that, I wouldn't know where to start. I simply can't understand your reasoning at all.

It's pretty annoying when people just go off based on their own bias and preconceptions and refuse to accept reality right?

What is more annoying is when people blithely rabbit on with a contrary view just for the sake of having a contrary view. If you think this is the smoking gun example that supports your view of me, I think you need to find a better example than this. It might also help your cause if you didn't leap to the defence of WelNix whenever they are criticised in any way and [in doing so] losing credibility with most on issues of that type.

But you wouldn't for a second consider that a professional football team may have scouts better than you?

Perhaps you ould make a clip of things he has done right as well... you know, give a fair view... afterall even the best players screw up and one could produce a similar vid for them.

Using fast wide players on the counterattack to feed Wood? Yeah I think so.

How would we be with him and Roy at their best? Some serious speed there.

Of course Tyler Boyd is another who is now playing at much better level, than when he was at the Nix. Admittedly that is 3 years ago now.

It’s rubbish to think a player, esp a young player can’t improve. Appiah is only 25.

you can actuallly teach someone over time to trap a ball

But you can't teach pace

So all power to him

you look at 2 seasons of highlights put together by an agent and think wow he is amazing ?

Anyway best of luck to him.  I dont think he is good enough to be an All White. You think he is.

We will agree to disagree and leave it at that

Boyd showed an ability to get his head up and square a ball or shoot. Not Apphah qualities I've seen .

I don’t think anyone is saying Appiah is ‘amazing’. But then AWs squads generally don’t consist of many/any amazing players.

It's more he’s worth a look given the level he’s playing at, and likely unavailability of other players.

I didn't say he's amazing. Who is good enough to be an All White is entirely determined by the options available.

I hate to say it, but I would have to line up with NP on this, that "used to suck" does not necessarily mean "will always suck". Maybe the atmosphere at the Nix wasn't right for him. Maybe he's really, really into kimchi and K-Pop, who can tell.

Played 85 mins as Incheon lose 1-2 to Jeju United. Concede 2nd goal very late at 94 mins.

Looking forward to Sth Jeff having a hernia, when he’s picked for India.

The Korean season breaks end May to July so should be available if wanted for AWs.

Almost all their losses have been to a late goal, often in injury time. Really would suck to be one of their fans

He's a footballer, off course he wants to play international football, not only for the kudos, but when it comes to negotiating contracts saying you have played International football always helps to increase your wage. He's not a player that's really in a position to be picky about who he plays for internationally. I don't think he should play for NZ as I don't think he's good enough, but am pretty sure if Heraf called him up for this India tournament he'd jump at the chance.

Korean season now breaks until 7th July.

Appiah has played 13 games for Incheon, starting 11. Zero goals.

Incheon lie 11th (2nd last) on the table, after 14 games.

I am absolutely shocked by this statistic.

The Korean season has resumed, and Incheon have played two 3-3 draws in the last four days.

Appiah has not featured in either game.

Incheon now lie bottom of the league after 16 games.

Incheon fired their manager during the break & replaced him with the former North Korea manager Jorn Anderson, so Appiah is probably stuck on the outer now.
