Yes he will play a lot of Serbian league games that RS will win easily. Different to Danish Superliga which is a pretty even league, especially this season. Also according to Niche Cache's summary above RS, are doing a bit of a Noah's Ark doubling up in every position. So Stamenic may only play every 2nd game.

Still as a lad of proud Serbian heritage, would be a buzz to sign for the biggest club in Serbian football. Plus sounds like they are aiming high to be UCL group stage regulars.

But hopefully it's been a well thought through move, and folks like old mentor Declan who probably know a thing or two about which club would next best suit his development, have been consulted. And yes if he does really well, and catches the eye for a move to a better league could be a win win. Is a 4 year deal with RS, and Stamenic is still only age 20.

How much does playing for a winning team help a player being scouted?

Is it better for Stamenic to be playing in a team winning comfortably in the league and getting the opportunity to play in the CL... or to be playing in a team which (based on current form) is struggling and may not reach CL football next season?

From Flying Kiwis. Seems that his contract with Red Star, doesn't start until the next Euro season, ie he will be still be at FCK for a few months more yet.

No surprises there, already laid it out in last week’s edition that this was a done deal simply awaiting confirmation. Now we’ve got it. Crvena Zvezda (aka Red Star Belgrade) did try to grab him on an immediate basis but FCK asked a higher fee than they were willing to pay for an impending free agent so now here we are. Stamenic will see out the remainder of his contract with Copenhagen and then at the stroke of midnight as that one expires he’ll switch to Crvena Zvezda on what we now know will be a four year contract.

FCCZ sports director Mitar Mrkela: “We are very pleased with the arrival of Marko Stamenić. We’ve brought in a young player with a Serbian passport who will be a bonus next season, and yet has already had the huge experience of playing in the Champions League. We are talking about a great potential and a footballer who does best in the midfield. Considering his qualities, there is no doubt that he will quickly fit into the style of play of Red Star. He chose Red Star as his next destination in his career, and he comes from an extremely stable club, which makes us extremely proud. I believe that Stamenić has a bright future ahead of him, and that we have done an excellent job by bringing him in”

Playing regularly is key for the Stamenic, winning is great for the confidence regardless of how strong the opposition is. Scouts will no doubt be looking at him over the time he is there if he stands out then he'll move onto bigger thigns pretty quickly I'd imagine.

Unfortunately the planned tomorrow FCK v Brondby friendly (Stamenic verus Bell) has been canned, and FCK are to play Næstved instead

Unused sub in a 2-1 win.

Huge result in the title race and FCK go into 1st, 2 points clear of Nordsjalland (2nd).

A 0-0 draw so a 2-0 aggregate win for FCK.
Stamenic an unused sub. He really isn’t playing at all as he gets ready to leave for Red Star

No Stamenic in match day squad as FCK lose 1-0.

2-1 win FCK. No Stamenic. Seems he won’t play again for Copenhagen.
FCK go top of the table by 2 pts, but Nordsjælland (2nd) with a game in hand play tonight.

Going to be a tight title race.

Some good news for Stamenic ahead of his impending move to Serbia next season.

Red Star winning the Serbian League sends them straight into the group stage in the UCL!

By contrast, even if Copenhagen win the Danish Superliga, that would only be good enough to see them qualify into the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League, which would mean having to negotiate three home/away ties just to get through to the group stage proper themselves.

The question now is, how much game time will he get? But I guess we have to wait for September/October to find out.
I still personally think there might have been better opportunities elsewhere for his development, but I understand the chance to win silverware, play in the UCL and experience life in the country y9ur family comes from would be very appealing to him

0-0 draw. Stamenic an unused sub.
Nordsjælland (2nd) lost so FCK (1st) increase their lead to 2 pts.

The 2 teams have a Danish Cup tie midweek.

Does anyone know why Stamenic has gone from champions league starter to no minutes at all? My assumption was a coach bitter that he’s leaving, but maybe there’s something else.

I’m sure it’s been said, but while he’s going to a good team in Serbia, it feels like a step down for him overall given the lower quality of the league. That said, I read his father is Serbian so I’m guessing that’s a key motivator.

Red Star have also won the Serbian League already with direct entry to next season's UCL group stages.

FCK are in a tight battle with Nordsjalland to win the Superliga and even if they do win, the Danish champions have to then battle through 3 rounds of qualifying from memory to reach the UCL proper. Someone far smarter than me will be able to explain why Serbia gets an automatic UCL group stage spot, and Denmark doesn't.

But yeah the jury is out which is better for Stamenic's development. The Danish league is more level as a whole. End of the Danish regular season only 15 points, separated the top 9 teams. Meanwhile in Serbia, Red Star finished the regular season 20 pts clear of 2nd!

If Stamenic just ends up a squaddie in Belgrade, not makng UCL squads, only getting a game when Red Star play the easy beats of Serbia - then it won't be great. Fingers crossed that's not what pans out.

FCK win 5-3. So they prevail 7-6 on aggregate, and into the Danish Cup final!

Stamenic gets some very rare mins. On in the 83rd min (5-3) to protect that lead

Be interesting to see if this weekend’s crucial Superliga match between the same 2 teams is as high scoring

So FCK (drop to 2nd) lost 3-2 at Nordsjalland (jump to 1st) in a huge game re the title race. Stamenic came on at 83 mins (2-1 the hosts), but unfortunately Nordsjalland scored a few mins later, with FCK snagging a 2nd goal late at 98 mins.

4 Superliga rounds to go with FCK, a point off the leaders. Big Copenhagen derby game for them at Bell's Brondby this weekend. Brondby upset them at home 2 weeks ago.

AGF & Viborg are also still title contenders only 4 points behind Nordsjalland.

Could end up as a starting CB for the AWs at 2026 WC, looking at our future midfield depth compared to central defenders.

Is the Danish Cup final in 2 days. FCK verus AaB, at the Parken.
Will Stamenic start that big game?

From Flying Kiwis.

Marko Stamenic: “I think it went well. We have been working a lot during the week on defending situations that could be dangerous for us, and I think we all handled them perfectly. We did a great job and we are super happy with the victory. I felt comfortable [at centre-back]. I have good people around me who have helped me during the week. It is a good experience to have gained.”

Marko Stamenic had not started for Copenhagen in any competition since the end of October. He’s leaving at the end of the season and could easily have phoned it in the rest of the way. Instead he got called up to play out of his usual position in a massive game and was one of the best players on the park in a brilliant win that gives his team a huge lift in their push to retain the league title. Helped even more by Nordsjælland being held 1-1 away to AGF – putting FCK clear at the top by a single point with three rounds remaining. There’s also a cup final to be played during the week, just quietly. Absolutely massive from Stamenic. What a lad.

Marko as a ball playing CB who could step into the midfield would be great for the AWs.
Getting Marko, Lewis, Bell, (Singh/Thomas) and Garbett on the park would have our much of our best current talent on the park.

The Kiwi-Croat Vicelich did it. Why not the young Kiwi-Serb.
If everyone is fit (if), lots of midfield options now for the AWs. Fewer at the back.

I's like to see something like this - gets at least 3 CMs on the park and a Stamenic/Rufer can sit while Singh drifts inside and Cacace bombs forward.
