Niche Cache. Boxy & Pizzuto might have overlapped at the Nix back in the day
It’ll be worth keeping an eye on Minnesota’s third Leagues Cup game where they’ll face Atlante FC who boast a fella called Eugenio Pizzuto in their midfield. He’s on loan from Tigres UANL having previously been on the books with Braga, Lille, Pachuca, and... the Wellington Phoenix. He’s a Mexican youth international so don’t get carried away here but Pizzuto did spend some time in Wellywood on a scholarship to Scots College, set up through the Asia-Pacific Football Academy. He trained with the Wellington Phoenix Academy but as a foreign national he wasn’t eligible to play in competitive games (played heaps for his school though) and later returned to Mexico to chase a professional career. Pizzuto suffered a really bad ankle injury a few years ago but is back on track now and has already scored a couple of goals during this Liga MX Clausura season.
