The timing does seem a touch suspicious. I guess we shouldn't care too much as it WAS a loophole that let him come here in the first place and led to all this. I just think it was a great pity he didn't get the chance to play against West Ham and Newcastle and all the other pre-season games hes missed. Now we need to get him on the field and match fit.

This. So much this. Fortunately he has been training with us so knows the systems but you just hope that in the next 30 days we can slip in at least 3 games so he is back to being comfortable on the ball under pressure in his natural attacking position.

Still see the 6 in front of the back 4 as Roly, Riera, A-Rod, McGlinchey, Burns and Cunningham. That's our best 6 and I firmly believe we should play them. You don't sign quality players to be backups and sit on the bench (Roly)

I agree that this is our best team. For you is Fenton still a RB? If he isn't we will have Brockie, Boyd, Krishna and Fenton all competing for the bench.

Pretty sure CCM had to pay off their stadium debt by this Friday. I wonder if a third party may have helped with this?

Merrick not ready to confirm McGlinchey is ours:

http://www.3news.co.nz/sport/merrick-nothing-final...

" While Merrick took heart from Moss's comments in terms of McGlinchey's availability, he said the issue wasn't finalised.

He said any move would have to ratified by the FFA and he didn't want to hypothesise about what might happen.

"I hope that's the way it works out," he said.

"If it works out, it will be really be good to have Michael." "

For me I like the idea of Roly and Fenton at FB with this in front of them

The answer to this is that I don't know where I put him.

I think he may suffer from being dicked around last year and injured but now being a bit more versatile should see him with a spot on the bench. With what we have signed, he is definitely not a starter. You would think that the bench spots would be hotly contested with Boxall, Fenton, Lia, Brockie, Krishna, Boyd and Ridenton the more prominent ones (leaving Caira, Shermy, Rufer and Hicks to play ASBP).

With our record of injuries, I actually feel comfortable about the level of depth we have in our team. When you consider that Caira and Hicks are likely to occupy spots 20-21/23 and they got decent minutes last year, thats not too bad so there is a decent 2nd XI there.

I think we should have Fenton and Doyle competing for a place on opposite flanks and muscat filling in on the remaining side. I guess we could have rolly and muscat as our fullbacks though... We've gone from a lack of choices to an abundance of choices in fullback positions.

Hmmm,  maybe we need a new thread about who starts and who plays where.

Personally I'm no where near as convinced as others are by Doyle, Burns and Cunningham. I'd even like to see a bit more of Roly and Gorrin before I etch them into the starting lineup.

Can't wait for the season to actually start though, the off season is dragging on endlessly and there is still a bit to go.

I've seen the games against Newcastle and West ham. Gorrin is looking very likely but he didn't dominate the opposition in those games. I think people are jumping to quite a few premature conclusions without much evidence and although in the case of Gorrin they are likely to be right, it's still too soon imo.

Still too soon to call him a starter? I think he and Riera absolutely monstered the West Ham midfield (remember he scored a cracking goal too) and the midfield was at least competitive against NUFC and you are still doubtful of him starting in the A League? Yes it is too soon to say he is the new Messiah, but what else does he need to do to be a starter in your eyes?

The only conclusion you need to jump to is whether he is better than Lia or Manny, or Hicks or Ridenton in a more forward midfield role in front of Riera

no brainer for me

I just want to see more of him before I ETCH him into the starting lineup. I don't actually think he monstered West Ham either, he competed well and had a couple of very good moments that came off, you shouldn't judge players like that. I think people are tending to be too definitive on certain players while while ruling others, who sound like they are in  very good form, out.

Wow! Seriously? How many of the Football United and pre-season games have you watched?

I don't say the following to try and say I am better than you are at all, just to explain...

I've seen:

Football United Wellington live, and Auckland on TV.

Pre-season vs. Petone

Pre-season vs. NZ XI in Taupo

Pre-season at Weka Park.

And I have to say I am COMPLETELY convinced re. Alex Gorrin Rodriguez. I think he might even prove to be our best signing EVER. He has time and poise on the ball. He has vision. He has touch. He can create and he can finish.

I want to see more of Roly, and Cunningham still needs to perform consistently before I am a real fan, but I am excited and looking forward to seeign Kenny this season.

I am convinced by Doyle, and Burns.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

When you sign an import they should be an automatic starter. Especially when that import is replacing your most significant player (Hernandez). Of course no-one knows how he will go over a full season. If we are talking about the team we want to see for round 1 then Gorrin has to be there behind the strikers.

Cunningham also has to be on the team sheet for week one as well. He is a player with X-factor who can make something from nothing. 7 goals in 23 games last season (according to Wiki) is very good. We are going to need his goals this season.

He didn't dominate EPL opposition so I am not convinced he should be in the starting lineup.

Who got players to sign new contract acknowledgements ... Then had the players sign back ...   I don't think PFA fits the blanks.
