This man remains the bigges 'mystery' of YF search for NZ footballers, right up there with that 'amazing player' that was traveling around the A-league trialing (felipe campos?)

We still don't know if he's even a kiwi right?  He is playing at a very good level and actually making the field, but I don't think we will ever see him anywhere near a shirt with an kind of Fern on it, let alone the AW one.

OK I think it' time to put this to bed.  I emailed his current club and this is their response:

"Bom dia
Informo que o Nuno Coelho não tem ascendência estrangeira.
Cumprimentos
(António Jorge)"

Translated it says that Nuno Cuelho has no foreign ancestry.

A whole thread based on a false Wikipedia entry!

People just randomly add false shark to Wiki entries sometimes.

I correct them myself sometimes when it's something outrageously false.

Coelho's Wiki entry is quite different now to what it was a few years ago with no mention of NZ:

this thread has done well to get this far! I think someone said in the other thread that this wiki entry was edited to include the NZ link from an Aussie IP address yesterday...

There's a brilliant episode of the series PR comedy series Absolute Power where a mother of an aspiring Welsh footballer lies about having an affair with some English guy in order to get her boy into the England team, with the full connivance of his real father.
