We don't seem to have an Oli Sail thread, so here is one for the eventual move to Kiwi Players Overseas.

Real shame. We just keep losing good players to the opposition. And we're in the middle of the season for goodness sake. Completely unacceptable.

Now tell me, who have we snatched away from our opposition for next year? Answer: no one. Yet again we'll scramble to bring in a couple of unproven visa players from who knows where and promote a few kids from the academy. Not going to win the league like that...

Why is it unacceptable? The rules are that players are allowed to talk to (and sign with) other clubs with 6 months left on their contract. It happens all the time, the only difference is this time the club decided to front foot it and be honest. Would you rather they keep it quiet?

I don't doubt we're talking to and potentially putting offers in front of players as well, the issue being we don't have a coach for next season yet, we just won't announce them until the other clubs have announced their leaving.

Unless Sasse goes as far as im aware we dont nhave two import spots available. Im sure the club would take all the help you can offer them in how to sign players whose contracts have finished and want to leave the club.

it happens every year to all clubs, players move around and they are allowed to talk to other a-league clubs when they have 6 months left to tun on their contracts. Oli has been with the Nix for a decade or more, been #1 for 3 years now, he probably feels its time for a change of scenery and as was mentioned in the pod cast he's probably negotiated a release clause and better money, so if someone comes knocking he can go with no restrictions.

Reminder that we signed 6 players in the offseason and 3 of them (Kosta, Ugarkovic, Mauragis) were from other A-League teams.

Ok, slight overreaction on my behalf- sorry. Just hoping we can build a solid squad for next season. And it doesn't disrupt the team going into finals

I do agree with your point:

"Now tell me, who have we snatched away from our opposition for next year?"

We do seem to be on the back foot more often than not. I just wonder if we end up seeing who hasn't found anyone else by June and are left scraping from that barrel?

Tbf I don't think any of the teams they were from wanted to keep them...

I feel like the last three seasons we’ve fired some big shots- Uli, Hemed, Taylor, Wootton… keeping Ball, Lewis, Waine…
Rebuilding this year with Ugarkovic, Sasse, Zawada and Kraev.

We haven’t had the returns from that we’d have hoped and maybe the investors are feeling that a little too.

Though thought Gill did a great job fronting media, there’s perhaps a little dip going into this next one, likely without Uffie, which is going to require playing with a lot of Uffie’s squad, but also missing key figures, particularly in the midfield.

Or not? Just a feeling though. Felt when Uffie was committed the plan for next season was always there, even if it needed completing.

Well Ollie, I guess Perth is slightly closer to Europe, but I don't think they have any better track record for their players getting Euro contracts, do they?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Maybe not his main goal at this point? Just an OE? (or been talking to Smeltzy??grr)
Honestly you tend to get to a point where not having an NZ winter is something you don’t mind trying for a year or two…

I think we should have a thank you banner for Sail at his last home game. I spoke to him many years ago after a preseason game in Waikanae, well before becoming the starting keeper. He wasn't sure about staying as long as he has then, so credit to him for sticking with us this long. Seemed well liked in the squad then and surely only more so by now. Deserves a really good send off in my opinion, has been whole hearted Nix while with us.

Not sure it is even his best this season tbh

Read that Pep wanted to convert Neuer to midfield and I reckon that my Sail to midfield (or Crouchesque striker) shout might not have been the craziest thing I’ve ever said.

Good luck to him. Hes a decent keeper but too much of a hot head. Needs to learn to control his emotions.

Actually no hard feelings. Good luck to the guy...

Cook awarded 3 Alex Tobin points, so Sail might be riding the bench for awhile.

+ 3 points, a clean sheet, and a shoutout to their cleaning partner...

Unfortunately I can see him sitting on the bench for a wee while after this outing as well, or at least until Cook logs an absolute stinker of a performance...

Tbh, I think he is gonna be on the bench until an injury opens the door for him again. The Glory fans will forgive one of 'their' players making mistakes over new signings making mistakes. It is gonna end up like Glen Moss at the Victory.

Gotta be tough on Oli, one of the rumors about why he moved was that the Glory were more open to having release clauses in his contract than the Phoenix were, but that's irrelevant if he's not getting game time.

Perth Glory are now the only club in the history of the old NSL and A-League to concede the most goals in a 5 game stretch, with a total of 29 goals scored against them.
Unfortunately Oli Sail has been in goal for those matches.
With Oil in goal for 18 matches Perth have conceded 51 goals.
This does not include the 4 Australia Cup games with a total of 13 conceded.
To round it all off Oli has played a total of 22 games with the Glory conceding 64 goals.

Also 6 different coaches and not one game plan between them…
