Toronto got a whooping from Salt Lake overnight 3-0

Ok, so the 3-0 loss to RSL was humbling. Defoe out with a hamstring issue, hopefully not too bad. Cesar got hurt too, but no updates so far.

On this day, the lord Nelsen played in front of a record BPL crowd at old Trafford.

Ends 2-0, Issey with a late goal.

TFC looked well in control during the first half but again they sat back and invited the Crew to attack in the second. Very lucky the Crew couldn't convert their chances.

Seemed to be behind on possession and shots so did well. Second now, only reason they aren't first is because of goal difference.

TFC picked up Luke Moore (ex Villa, WBA & Swansea) from Chivas to add some depth up front.

You guys reckon Nelsen is in danger after a few poor results? I think the good start to the season would not have helped him in terms of raising expectations.

Defoe, Bradley, Henry (no, not that Henry) and Osorio have been injured recently. Not much you can do with an injury depleted squad as we know.

2-0 win over NYRB this morning, defoe & Moore with the goals.

That should take a little of the pressure off. Reading their forums a few days ago the heat was staying to rise on him.

7th out of 10 teams at the moment, but has 3 - 4 games in cred on most other teams (not sure why). A couple wins and he'll be in top 3.

Yeah that's weird. 3rd equal in the conference on points per game

Combination of there being 19 teams and the MLS not having a break for the World Cup. Some teams have played a couple of double game weeks already, whilst TFC have had two bye weeks.

He's a kiwi that sounds like a kiwi. What part of that is remarkable?

Between going to College, playing in the MLS and the EPL, he has hardly been in NZ in the last 18 years.

From what I've seen people who have moved to NZ after the age of 16 keep their accents (more or less), before that age they lose them. You can live in NZ for 30 years but if your first 16 years were somewhere else that's the accent you will keep.

Look at Ernie Merrick - moved to Aus around the age of 20 and spent 40 odd years there. Doesn't sound like an Ausy to me.

I'd say you're right to a point there, Ryan. I just came back from three years at uni in the States and get accused of sounding American occasionally. Lived here from birth to age 19.

Some people develop the local accent and others don't. Depends on the person.

Have a few friends from Liverpool who I have to use google to translate accent. But get crucified about their kiwi accent  by friends when they call home. Been here 14 months.

They have a thing about chickens at Blackburn - funniest moment from Premier League season 2011-12:

Chicken invades pitch - he's got every right to protest considering what club owners Venkys do to his mates...

Blackburn supporters have to cope with losing football matches - he stands to lose rather more...

Very funny comments posted by fans beneath the You Tube chicken invasion clip:

"The sad thing is that no one of the other chickens will believe hes story when he comes home."

"Better spend the night in jail then in a 4 nugget box :)"

"lol the fans singing 'theres a chicken on the pitch' "

"Yet again a Chicken has acomplished something more than me, Stepped on to a premier league pitch."

remarkably he still has a bit of a kiwi accent - talking about the result with sporting Kansas on the weekend

Listening to the video and reading the interview beneath the video, man, Ryan really gets stuck in to referees doesn't he?
“But because [referee Baldomero Toledo] has set a precedent throughout his refereeing career that he always likes to influence games, he decided to give a red for what was really a yellow card.”
Wouldn't get away with criticisms like that in many leagues.
Sounds like an away draw was a good result after Caldwell sent off and Kansas up 2-1 after an 84 min. penalty
Seventh on table in ten team Eastern Conference but three to five games in hand on other sides. Four or five wins in the catch-up games would take them to the top of the table.

certainly wouldn't getting away with that kind of talk in the A league.....I have full faith that this is Toronto's year and somehow having those games in hand keeps them looking like underdogs which might be a good thing as fighting spirit goes.

I've got high hopes for Gorrin.

A Spaniard who spent the last 3 or 4 years in Sunderland? That accent's got to be good for a few laughs.

That is a weak pen and a justifiable, but unlucky red card. Other refs might not have called it. With the pen it looks like the attacker runs straight into him, isn't in possession and has little chance of getting the ball back. Very weak pen.
