interesting piece here from TV3 saying that he was about to head to DC for a player/assistant coach role.

DC's current coach is Ben Olsen who happened to play for DC when Ryan was there.  makes sense really.

So he is interested in going into coaching. Anyone know if he's got UEFA coaching license or anything?

If the Guardian say it, I believe it.

Young muppet I work with recently got his GF's name Rosanah tattooed on his back, left to right.
Of course she dumped him not long after.

The AW shirt will be cheaper.

13 mins long, and not really much said. Surprised he spoke nicely about the new owners of Blackburn, but wonder if he is just trying to be nice about it.

He doesnt seem like the sort of guy who'll say bad things about them or in particular BR

didn't Ryan go off at them in the media immediately after Sam Allerdyce was dumped as coach of Blackburn?

Is Nelsen a good chance to start tomorrow?

Was a suggestion he might make the bench. Not sure if the work permit would have came through in time, or if he would have the match fitness tho.

I'd be really shocked, I've only heard of him playing one reserve game against Huddersfield since his game against Villa in August. I'd expect two of Dawson, Kaboul and King to start.

If he gets onto the park and looks good, the Rover's forums might have a meltdown.

Bit worried now that Capello has gone from the England coaching role, and that 'Arry has been cleared of tax evasion and is being tipped as a possible England Coach, that things could get a bit tricky for Ryan.

Much as i would love him to come back for the Jamaica game, I wonder whether it might be best for him to stay and try and cement a role in the Spurs squad?

definitely wouldn't blame him for staying with his new club- especially as it is only for 6 months and is a great chance to cap his EPL career with some top level football.

True but by the same token, is Nelsen playing 90 week in week out? We might actually be doing Ryan and Spurs a favour giving him 90 in a decent hit out.

Don't know if a 40 hour round trip for the sake of 90 minutes football is doing either him or Spurs much of a favour. It's not great timing though, this Capello business. If Nelsen has hopes of pressing on into next season for Spurs the departure of Redkapp could definitely stuff those plans up.

Which would be better for his match fitness- playing in an international friendly on the other side of the world (and missing about 4 days training), or training everyday with a premier league club in the UK and playing some games for the reserves?

maybe I am suggesting that Nelsen was tapped up by Spurs?  Or that we need to plug some gaps in midfield?

The way I see it is that it's a six-month roll of the dice with not a huge amount to lose.

If he can push on into next season then that's fantastic, but if the above scenario happens (which it may well do) and he doesn't get re-signed , then what has he lost? If the rumors are true and he was thinking about semi-retirement as a player-coach, then I bet the four months he spent on the bench at Tottenham might be a little disappointing but not a huge regret.

It all makes sense now. Nelsen wasn't hired as a player, he was hired as a replacement for Harry Redknapp, England Manager. Nelsen is surely qualified to lead Spurs, having coached New Zealand at the last World Cup
