Trevor Zwetsloot signed with bales agent!  Johnothan barnett

If we are going to the tournament in India, maybe we should call him up considering he was the best out of the u20's in the camp.

05 May 01:01

Was an unused sub on the bench last weekend, as Bremen U19s (3rd - 57pts ) beat Hertha BSC U19s (2nd - 57pts but better GD) 4-0.

https://au.soccerway.com/national/germany/u-19-bun...

He had probably not long returned from U20s camp in Wellington.

He is still listed under a USA flag on Soccerway.

Last game of regular season this weekend, and Bremen host the top team Hamburger SV U19 (58 pts). Trev's team win that, and Hertha lose or draw their last game - and Bremen win the league which is the Bundesliga U19 North Region.

North Region winners then go into a final series verus winners of the two other Regions (West & South), plus 2nd team from West to find the top U19 club side in Germany. Bayern's U19 side are leading South region at moment by a point.

Hopefully Trevor gets back into Bremen's starting lineup.

Last day drama.

Bremen U19s (finish with 58 pts ) drew 2-2, with Hamburger SV U19 (59 pts), who were top of the table going into the last game.

2nd placed Hertha BSC U19s won 2-0 (60 pts), to snatch the title North Region U19s.

Unfortunately Trev and his team finish 3rd, and don't make the playoffs to find best U19 club in Germany.

Has been promoted to the Werder Bremen II, the reserve team who played in 3. Liga (the third tier) this season - a professional league.

Unfortunately they were relegated this season to the regional leagues, but nevertheless great to see a Kiwi being trusted this much at a young age. One step away from the first team! He'll be rubbing shoulders with the USA's golden boy Josh Sargent, who scored against us in the 6-0 thrashing at the U20 World Cup last year and earned a senior USA call up at 17 years of age.

He's now listed with a NZ flag on Transfermarkt.

Awesome hope the States don't get him, hopefully he can be involved in our U20's or the All Whites soon.

See above.

Recently returned to NZ to trial for U20's, and apparently was bit of a stand out at the trials.

You would hope eligibility has all been checked out.

Well done to Trevor for making the national team! Excellent work!

28 Jul 23:20

and well done for making himself available as well

It has been taken care of.

Zwetsloot required Fifa clearance in order to play for New Zealand as he was born in the Netherlands to Dutch and American parents, and only lived here from the ages of two to 15 before landing a place in the IMG Academy in the United States.

But Rufer, who helped facilitate Zwetsloot's move from IMG to his former club Werder Bremen, said the player's availability, which came through in time for the OFC Championship, could be real win for New Zealand Football going forward.

I'm positive things will go wrong.

Do you think the eligibility process was why he was named only as a reserve for the camp that was before they flew. and then called in late when he got cleared?

what a goal ! cheers for the trophy TZ

Unused sub in 3-1 loss to Jeddeloh.

His first match day squad for Bremen’s 2nd side.

His star team mate Josh Sargeant from US has already scored 5 league goals for Bremen II in 7 games.

11 Nov 13:19

First appearance in a match day squad for Bremen II since September, as he makes the bench.

Bremen’s reserves lose 1-2 to Wolfsburg II.

Another unused sub. Bremen II beat Eintracht Norderstedt 2-1.

Remember Bremen II is an U23 side, and Zwetsloot is only 19.

His young star team mate Josh Sargeant (age 18), has scored 7 goals this season.

He bagged a goal for USA against Peru in October FIFA window.

I see Bremen play Kaizer Chiefs in a friendly this week in Johannesburg, where I guess they are based during winter break in Bundesliga.

Presume young Trevor is there with the first team, soaking up the African sun, away from the German chill.

04 May 22:11

On the bench for Bremen II (3rd on table North division) in a 2-0 loss to Lube (2nd) in Regionaliga (German 4th tier).

His first match day squad at that level since Dec 2018.

Possibly was injured? Anyway good sign for U20s WC.

Anyone know how Zwetsloot, has gone with his rehab, post nasty injury at U20 World Cup?

Over a year ago now.

Over a year ago now.

Has been watching at some pre season games in Auckland and am told he is not far away from returning to light training. Propably should be in another category now as was released from WB long time back?

17 Jun 01:11

Thanks for update, hopefully recovers well aka Ryan Thomas, rather than sadly seemingly fading away like Henry Cameron, Liam Graham.

And yes an Unattached FC signing now.

Any more news on Zwetsloot?

Hopefully just the beginning to restarting his career. That bad ACL injury was May 2019 (20 months ago) so has been a long road back.

He looked a real promising talent back then. Still only 21. Good luck to him.

Said this a couple times of Twitter, I wonder if Des has played a hand in this move? He must rate him by selecting him in the u20s & being in Melbourne now, he might have put them in contact with each other. I really hope he has a fantastic season and gets looked at by AL teams.

Oh well if Uffie doesn’t re-sign, new Nix coach Des can bring him to Wgtn

In response to Carlind's IG stalking that he is off to Boston.

That then would indicate the New England Revolution if it is a MLS deal.

Their reserve team New England Revolution II play in the new MLS Next Pro - which I think is now the 3rd tier in US Football??

I think one of his parents is American, so maybe he has a US passport, and straight away is a local player??

But good luck to Zwetsloot where ever he goes. Bad ACL injury at 2019 U20 WC. It's been a long slow recovery.

MLS Next Pro kicks off, and Zwetsloot gets a start against New York City II.
https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2022/03/27/united-states/mls-next-pro/new-york-city-ii/new-england-ii/3757799/

Hopefully he has a good season, and with time can push for a spot in the first team squad. Would be handy in the Nix squad right now.

Edit - Is a 2-2 draw. Full game Zwetsloot.
Interesting league where draws lead to penalty shootouts for a bonus point.

Say what now???
That is weird! Though I actually don't hate the idea. If done in a top league it would probably increase the national team players' penalty taking skills.
But would it also encourage draws? I mean if you can park the bus to secure a point and then have a 50% change of going home with 2 points, wouldn't you consider it?

horrid idea! a draw is a valid result in football and should remain so. Otherwise we are just copying Rugby and league with silly forced "results"

It's the American way. Has to be a winner and a loser.

Although in saying that, I guess in an inconsequential development league, it isn't a horrible idea.

Would hate to see it implemented in other leagues around the world, but I genuinely don't think it would ever come to that.

A 73rd min sub against Cincinnati II. Score 2-2 when he came on

Edit - Revs II with a late 92nd min winner, to get up 3-2
