According to Soccernet, Winnie came on in the 90th minute/stoppage time and then was Yellow carded.

Anyone on the colder side of the word watch the game.... or Frankie were you at the game?

Chur

I say tackle him in the face.

You may be reading it wrong

Kickoff time - 'Bubbles' starts to play and the two teams enter the arena. The snow is coming down, creating a really fantastic scene. The home fans are in superb voice, as you might expect. To be fair to United, they have brought loads of fans with them. That is a fantastic effort. Their end is virtually full.  33,551 fans have battled through the snow tonight. Superb commitment.

74 mins - Hernandez shoots first time from 25 yards and the ball skims a yard over the top. West Ham make their first change, replacing the fantastic Tomkins with Winston Reid. 33,551 fans have battled through the snow tonight. Superb commitment.

90 mins - Reid becomes the first West Ham player booked for a foul on Obertan. The free-kick is cleared.

West Ham are  through to their first League Cup semi since 1989/90.

was there and found it very enjoyable, I must say.

Our winnie came on in the 50th minute and only touched the ball once, when he won a header in about the 85th minute.  He was also booked when he nearly touched the ball again a few minutes later.

How did that happen...

Reid scores a World Cup goal, signs for a club in the worlds biggest league and helped propel NZ football to heights never seen.

I always think of the rugby a bit like prisoners playing tic-tac-toe in a cell- 532 to you and 478 to me- want to play again?  martinb2010-12-05 21:10:21

I'm sorry but that is well f**ked. With all due respect to Hosea Gear, who is a fine rugby player, what Winston Reid achieved this year is far more immense. It's mind-boggling. A hint of what's to come with the Halberg's perhaps?

made the list of top 10 breakthroughs. No mention of his EPL contract though.

Winston Reid

Zero to hero stories don't get much better than this. This time last year we were still in shock at the fact New Zealand was going to play in a Football World Cup and we thought the best thing Denmark had to offer us were the butter cookies we got in our Christmas hampers. Turns out we were wrong.

Not even All Whites coach Ricki Herbert had seen 21 year old Reid play in his Danish club side when he selected him in his world cup squad. The blind faith from Herbert paid off in spades as he headed the extra-time equaliser into the back of the net against Slovakia to permanently write his name into this country's sporting history.

Unused sub in the draw with everton.
At least he's making the bench I suppose, just needs to wait for his chance and make it count when it comes

On the bench again, the team won, which has taken them just out of the relegation zone. Go the Hammers,. hope they can stay up

Sounds  like Reid  played pretty well, he was on for the full 90 against Barnsley in a 2 nil victory, putting Hammers  through  to the 4th round of the FA cup

The beeb thought he was a little lucky not to concede a penalty, but otherwise not too bad. Good to see him back in the team, hopefully not just there for the cup tie

is it just me or does he seem to give away or almost give away a penalty every game he plays?

West Ham forums seem to think he did ok - and they're the hardest critics to please at times. Cardiff would be fantastic move for him but Tal Ben Ham has now gone back to Pompey and Gabbidon has been playing LB so it might leave them a bit light in CB's (Manuel DaKosta is another option as 3rd choice CB though).

I am trying to think of any game when our Winnie gave away a penalty.

West Ham text had the tackle down as Tomkins
56 mins - Hammill sends over a free-kick from the left and Tomkins heads clear. Barnsley come again and Tomkins slides in on Hammill inside the box. Barnsley want a penalty and it looks like they might have a case, but referee Swarbrick gives nothing. West Ham clear.
I didnt see any reference in the bbc text about this or a Reid penalty

Yep that is the proof. Tackling to the brink is fine, and skillful

May not be great for him if grant leaves - although Allardyce does love a physical centre back

Would love Winston Reid to sign with Blackburn. But West Ham forked out a lot of money for him, so can't see him being released. A loan sounds much more likely, even if Samba leaves.

reid starting this morn in the league cup semi v brum, first leg

strong side named by grant too so a good chance to impress

tomkins, upson and faubert are all starting (along with spector in midfield) so where does that leave reid - RB with faubert playing LB?

Westham gurus please confirm
