Guy from New Jersey here. Love trying different brews - some of the ones mentioned here sound great, have yet to see a NZ beer at the places I frequent. If anyone knows of any that are available in the New Jersey / New York City area let me know.......

I was listening to a US beer podcast (is that sad?) and they were talking about how some unknown NZ brewery called garage project had completely dominated a large beer festival that they whent to, so if they want to capitalise on that success you'd expect Garage Project to be appearing as well, although they are severely capacity limited.

I was given a six pack of that export citrus, first bottle ended up going down the sink, the rest were given away.
I found it undrinkable.

Of all of their beers, I find Export Dry the best but then, it's not being compared to much. Who remembers DB Natural and DB Black?

How about DB superdry Leighbo, got through a few of those as a young fella. Was easily the pick of the DBs but as you say, not being compared to much.

Put on hold for a bunch of reasons. I was going to spark it up in the off season in time for new season launch if there was still demand.

right, starting with the Espiga garage IPA. A lot darker and cloudier than expected, but it had a strong taste - a bit like a Brooklyn Lager on steroids. I have had a couple of beers before this one, and as I am getting down towards the bottom of the glass my tongue is starting to get a bit numb. Good stuff

tried the Inspiration Series Rascal London Porter, which was alright. I am not really a porter fan, but I managed to drink it all pretty comfortably (normally when I get them in these boxes I drink half of them and then throw them out) so I guess that is a good sign

I'm drinking Garage Project "Beer".
Been staring at me from the shelf for a while so I picked up a six pack.
It's alright, very drinkable and just a well crafted generic larger. Very un Garage Project like.
I think that was their aim - "level entry" beer and matches the packaging perfectly.
Had their Cat's Pyjamas and also the new Sea of Green - both very, very good.
Good to see Panhead with some new additions in cans - the 'Canhead' range is selling out fast but managed to get my hands on the 'Hardtail Henry' a strong 8%+ stout with a brown head on it and the beer itself is so black that not even light escapes! Brilliant flavour.

All grain. I started off "brewing in a bag", and now have a chilly bin mash tun, a 40l kettle with 2 electric elements, and a converted fridge with a temp controller for fermentation (needed it after my storage room was too hot over summer and a few brews went yeasty).
Let me know of you want any info about the fridge to buy and setting it up

I've got an STC-1000 and a heating mat which is adequate for brewing ales. I've also just managed to get my hands on a fridge which I will convert for my larger setup, just need to get it moved to my garage.
I've mainly done extract, and a couple of brew in bags. I was looking at making a chily bin mash tun but was thinking of sticking with brew in bag and moving down to a couple of gallon batches until I can make something drinkable. Would also prefer a stainless mash tun because of oestrogen leaching from plastic, but that is going to be challenging to build.
I was thinking of doing SMASH brewing to really get a feel for the flavours before making my Baltic Porter, hopefully before winter is over.
Definitely keen to pick the brains of a local who's been there done that though - so will hit you up if I have any Qs.
Back on topic - which is drinking beer. I've got a Tuatara Belgian Tripel that was priced reasonably at new world in front of me. Its good, and surprisingly doesn't have much of that alcohol taste despite the fact that it's 8.5%. At first I was surprised by it, but after you get going its really nice. A bit bitter, a bit fruity. I actually prefer it to the similar Belgian beers that I've tasted.
