Watch 'Rubber' last night.  Here is the blurb...."When Robert, an inanimate tire, discovers his destructive telepathic powers, he soon sets his sights on a desert town; in particular, a mysterious woman becomes his obsession. "

Not really sure if I liked it.  Truely quite bizarre.

I watched Cemetery Junction not expecting much but really enjoyed it. Being a fan of anything by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant might have swayed it but still a good movie.

Jut watched "Machete" - Friggen brilliant. Great humour, good story and actors did a real good job of it. Lots of irony.

Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite

Don't get your hopes up for scream 4 too much though. Haven't heard good things.

Finished Scream 2 last night - gutted when Randy dies as he is one of the best characters.  Also wondering just how many times Gail Weathers and Dewy can be shot/stabbed and survive as it has happened to then both twice now.

From memory Scream 3 is the weakest by quite a way so just going to watch that for geeks sake.

I have also been wondering - I know she is hot and all that, but why would anyone want to be friends with Sydney Prescott?

Went and saw Paul tonight. Very funny. Heaps of sci-fi movies references as well. Heaps better than Hot Fuzz. Didn't realise Seth Rogan was the voice of Paul until the credits.

I personally preferred Hot Fuzz. I loved Paul, but found it rather lacking the synergy between Pegg and Frost which made Hot Fuzz and SOTD as good as they were. By itself, however, fantastic movie.

Did you kick yourself when you found out he was Paul?

It was a funny movie! But couldn't help but think it couldn't have been better. Still worth watching though.

Saw Battle: Los Angeles the other night.
Not a bad action flick if you want to switch off your brain for a couple of hours (and don't mind the inevitable USA saves the world overtones).

It screamed sequal though. Was an ok pic. Made a change that it wasn't New York getting toasted for once.

Nah, halfway through I thought I better check the credits to see who was doing the voice.

You must have high standards. I thought it was good as it was. Was disappointed with Hot Fuzz but loved Shaun of the Dead.

Saw Rango down at my local The Roxy tonight.  Good movie & nice theatre.  The animation is quite life-like.

Scream 4 - pretty average.  Wrecked by stupid, and pretty unfunny, one-liners as people were killed.

has anyone been to see any films at the World Cinema Showcase?  I've seen a few - Rubber, Catfish, Rabbit Hole and Cold Weather.

Also watched a few old classics of late (these are ones that immediately come to mind)
The Sting
Krull
Great Expectations
Dog Day Afternoon
Death of a Salesman

Just finished watching Flags of Our Fathers on DVD. Hadn't seen it before.

It was good - accomplished more in the 2 hours than the mini series The Pacific.

The Warehouse should have it for about $16.99 if you're prepared to search for it.

Yes, me. Went to see Rango about 3-4 weeks ago. Nice Art Deco decor. Statue of Gollum greets you as you go upstairs to the theatres. Comfy leather armchairs & couches on the 1st floor waiting area with a bar in the corner. Didn't get to check out the toilets. Theatre seats are firm leather armchairs. Just a little too firm for me, could be a tad softer. They don't sell pop corn or chippies, makes too much messy. Didn't eat at Coco's. For what it's worth, David Burton's review was very good. Apparently, the new Mexican restaurant a few doors down is very good. Don't park outside Roxy, go round the corner or the next block.

You can watch the full film here on youtube.

Wow.

Thanks for the recommendation, just watched it.
Absolutetly stunning visuals, some of the images are hard to comprehend.
Not telling us anything we havent heard before, BUT, does it in such a way that it is more believable. I think some of the timeframes it was spouting were scaremongering tactics, it made no mention of the contribution to the green house gases made by volcanic activity, which I am led to believe is the major offender.
Very enjoyable & thought provoking, highlights have to be the incredible images of man made excess.
Highly recommend it.

Was at Lyall Bay today - lots of DVDs on sale (2 for $18). Couldn't find it but got Hero (Jet Li), Police Story 2 (Jackie Chan & Maggie Cheung ), Fellowship of the Ring and Monsters vs Aliens.

Tony Gatlif has always been one of my fave directors but finally caught Korkoro on Rialto channel the other night and was both stunning and supa sad. Unfortunately I managed to catch some of that rotten Big Fat Gypsy Wedding the other day and one can hardly believe the difference in a portrayal of a race

I was thinking about trying to find this thread the other day.  Things that I have watched lately:

* Horrible bosses - ok
* Your Highness - pretty terrible (I think you need to be stoned to appreciate it)
* Scream 4 - guessing I might have been drunk when I watched this, as I know that I saw it, but cannot really remember too much about it
* Limitless - pretty good, but I do man crush on Bradley Cooper something terrible.

I feel like that there is quite a lot more, but buggered if I can actually remember them now I am trying to write them down.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

sorry KH didn't see your reply.

Yeah agree, had heard it all before but it's never come across as strongly. The imagery is incredible and the whole thing a massive eye opener.

Fuck this stupid game
