Damn Flynn gone. Thank f**k Taylor's still there just to tease us Black Cap fans into thinking there's still some way we can win this.

Three for me, and two for them.

Can't see anyway Elliot can score runs. Feel the same way about him as I do about Redmond.

Do some f**king research channel 9, Taylors test record is quality, big hundreds in Hamilton and Manchester, probably been more disappointing in the ODI game where he has been very hit and miss and hes only played 11 tests because we never play f**king test cricket

That is the end of Elliott's test career... Shouldering arms? IDIOT.

Poses an interesting question for the next test. Who do you drop for Fulton, Redmond or Elliot? Maybe just fly someone over tonight.
Permalink Permalink

That's disgraceful. Elliot, you're not a test cricketer's arsehole.

Fulton is coming home to play first class cricket, Patel is going over. Cant imagine Bracewell admitting he was wrong and dropping Redmond? But like I said earlier I would like to see Fulton come in for Elliot because whatever Fulton is he isn't an opener

Bell should play in the next test series with our top 7 hopefully looking like this:
Bell
How
Ryder
Taylor
Flynn
Oram
McCullum

Thats if Oram plays, can't remember how long he is out for.

I just hope we have enough stickability tomorrow to try get Taylor to a 100.
Having said that, he'll probably get out in the first over tomorrow.

I'm starting to like Flynn quite a bit, he did get out at an imopportune time and maybe playing a bit loosely, but I think he could become quite a good test cricketer (for a NZer, I should point out). Taylor has all the talent in the world, if he keeps working on his concentration skills, he could be the Martin Crowe of this generation.

Redmond and Elliott have to go, put Fulton and someone else in, don't care who it is, even if they have to pull them off the street. These two guys are a joke.

Yeah, Flynn has the grit and determination to become an excellent test cricketer. And I think batting at 6 is far too low because he just runs out of partners when he gets to about 40. Should bat in the top three where he has plenty of time to anchor the innings.

So Fulton and Mills are coming home and we are only sending Patel over?

Squad: Aaron Redmond, Jamie How, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum (wk), Daniel Flynn, Peter Fulton, Grant Elliott, Gareth Hopkins (wk), Daniel Vettori (capt), Tim Southee, Mark Gillespie, Jeetan Patel, Iain O'Brien, Chris Martin.

So Fulton still there and we have the option of Hopkins who isn't much more than Elliot at batting.

The plan from before the tour was to always play Patel in the second test and let him play a first class match here while the 1st test was on - more condusive to spinners

Right, just underway. Can they pull off an upset similar to the Kiwis over the Kangaroos?

NO!

NO!

It's not quite the same, the Kiwis were underdogs, but you always felt they COULD win if they played very well.

I just can't see how the cricketers could possibly win.

Fair point, to win this, we need Vettori to get around 80 and Taylor to bat right through the innings. Can't see any of that happening, I wish we had someone like Franklin coming in next instead of Southee.

Southee's an all rounder though?

Three for me, and two for them.

We wont win, of that I am sure but we could/Ross could cover himself in a bit of glory with a gutsy 120 and then bash 50 more with the tail

What I'd have is Franklin 9, Southee 10. O'Brien's bowling maybe better than Franklins but Franklins batting makes him the better player.

Tough call to drop OBrien on recent form, I dont think batting ability should come into it when you are picking bowlers, but I guess the reality of our top order means it should come into it
