We really need to get Yousuf early, he could bat for a couple of weeks on this.

so, we get 6 wickets in the first session for 50 or so runs, then have 150ish to win in 2 sessions

easy

Just give Guppy the ball, lads. An Avondale boy, he knows what he's doing!

Edged through vacant first slip in the first over. FFS, surely a first slip is mandatory to a seamer in the first over.

Why are we putting sweepers out!?  Surely we back our batsmen to bat for 2 sessions no matter what we get set!  Vettori seems a very negative captain at times.

Basically every captain in the world has a point sweeper back most of the time now. TBH if I was going to have a token deep fielder back it would be at 3rd man but what do I know.

Guptill into the attack. Lets go. Another wicket now and things are looking good.

Massive wicket just before lunch, Aamer can hold a bat. Hopefully finish them in the next 30 runs and it will be all on this afternoon. Could be very tempted by an afternoon at 4kings, Xmas shopping will just have to wait!

Also get onto blackcaps.co.nz and follow the live scoring on the Welly v CD game, Ingram and How absolutely mullering the attack

Edit: Oh and Broom gets another 150 and helps Otago cruise (in the end) to a win over the Aucks

Canterbury beat Northern inside 2 days (well 3, but the first one was abandoned without a ball being bowled) aswell.

Anyone heading to the basin on Thursday or Sunday?

Yeah that Welly game is very interesting.

This test is very nicely poised, looking forward to the afternoon.

what kind of total do y'all think we could chase?

Pakistan will surely pack it up in this next session, and play for a draw.
If we got say a session and a half, so like 40-45 overs, i'd hope we could chase up to 200 in that time.

8 down, O'Brien can barely stand up but he still gets that c**t Gul out! excellent.

I agree, and at times I don't have a problem with it as it stops easy runs - however in this scenario, when even if Pakistan had of got to a 250 run lead quickly somehow by soon after lunch, we have to trust our batsmen to bat for 2 sessions on this pitch.  Seems unnecessarily negative.
