Smith lazily fishes at an awful wide half volley from Martin (but some good bowling building pressure leading to that) and hits it straight to cover.

Now comes the real danger partnership - Amla/Kallis.

Now then..

Three for me, and two for them.

What a waste of a challenge. Surely Amla told him if he didn't hit it he was a goner.

Good to see we have readjusted our plans and lines at tea with the ball not swinging.

Too bad it took 27 overs to realise. If only.

Three for me, and two for them.

Who would've picked this. Has anyone heard Doull acknowledge that he was wrong earlier when he said Ross Taylor made the wrong call putting them in to bat? He was convinvced they were going to be on top at the end of today...

Fuck this stupid game

Doull is often wrong. And a knob.

Doull is okay but lately he's annoyed me. Seems to be hell bent on sparking debate with loose comments. Craig McMillan is our worst commentator. Oram debuts today though, how long before he strains a vocal chord or something...

Our day.

Great to see us strike early today. I'm still worried that we will bat poorly and end up with a 1st innings defecit. Would love to see a nice 1st innings lead. around 150 ish, the kind of lead where there is a fair bit of work to do before they level the scores.

Calling it now, we won't lead by 150. Nowhere near.

Well Downey suggested it and i responded. Doesn't matter if it's bold or not.

Actually, what are the odds we'll get rolled out for 150? Or less?

Awful shots to get out from both McCullum and Taylor.

So often it seems to be our shot selection more than anything else that is our undoing.

Taylor's wasn't awful shot selection it was awful execution. Short and wide you are meant to put away.

Three for me, and two for them.

This partnership could be test match defining. So absolutely vital.

Soft dismissal from Williamson. Nothing shot at a good ball.
Permalink Permalink
about 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Well this one is the partnership that keeps us in the game. If they can put on 60 or 70 we should end up close to parity. If they don't then we could be facing a pretty decent deficit. Whatever happens now though we are going to have to roll South Africa for not many in the 2nd innings to have any chance of winning the test.

van Wyk looks could. Inching towards that first innings lead now - come on lads!

Rain forecast for Sunday so we might get a draw out of this

Agreed, was a bad ball, but Taylor got it all wrong, feet went nowhere and head and bodyweight going away.

So guess I was wrong, Jesse has taken an indefinite break from cricket. Fair enough though, maybe the best way to sort himself out.TopLeft072012-03-08 22:40:33

nope

Well done to Boult. Like he did in Hobart, adding some pretty helpful runs there.

I've been having issues with Cricinfo and Soccernet recently.

Hmm that's odd. No problems on other sites. Oh well I'm watching on tv anyway so all it means is that I can't peruse stats at the same time.

Anyway, that was an awesome little partnership there. Boult continuing the fine tradition of lower order sloggers. Martin's bowling this morning looks particularly sharp, should be an interesting first session

Agreed. I hope everyone leaves him alone for a bit, and he comes back when he's truly ready.

I hate these earlier than 10.30 starts. Here I was wasting my time doing work... and I come on to see that Martin scored 5... how did that happen? Not even a four involved, so it can't have been edged through slips like usual.

Got a single, would have been runout if they had hit the stumps but no one backing up and it went to the boundary.

Ha, that's classic. Ta.
I'd love to see a breakdown of Martin's test runs. I.e. where/how they were scored. I'd bet 1/2 of them were from edges.
