T20's when they are close can be entertaining, I remember a game at Westpac against India where we needed a run off the last ball to win. But apart from that, they are a borefest.

McCullums 100 against aussie was ok to watch. But yes, on a whole they are generally a boring waste of time.

Same can be said about ODI's, very few become dramatic in the last few overs.

Loved the TAB option of putting money on the Zimbs openers not getting into double figures

did you see all the scores from their openers this series. just woeful. no one has mad 10 yet

In other news, had a dream last night that Peter Ingram scored 400* in a domestic match. It was very vivid and strange.

In more positive news than what was on the other channel, CD wins in a barnstormer. So glad I thought to record the last 8 overs.

Michael Mason more than double his previous high score with 41* off 19 balls.

I love Michael Mason, even though I hate CD, his batting really improved over the last few years. Great NZ Cricket servant and a worthy way to end his career

Shot McCullum, just run out all our players who are desperate to perform.

Franklin should have just keeped on running though.

Amazing throw from the Zimbs

Just got back from Seddon Park. Pretty enjoyable match with a pretty awesome finish. Good to see Kano keep his cool under presure. Bodes well for him. Franklin was hitting the ball very well also, looked good.

Um, it's not natural/normal to respond to "no" by keeping on running....

Franklin called for 2 in the first place. If he called it McCullum should have keeped on going. It ain't like he was running to the danger end any way

Exactly. Baz ran him out by causing the hesitation.

Heard discussions last night on radio sport about whether Ryder will be automatically back in when fit and about Brownlies role and things like that.

Anyway point is, how good is it that we are having genuine discussions about selections in regards to our depth. Nice  to have a bit of choice.

Good point re Waitling, but thats the role I would envisage Williamson playing. I'm not sure you would want them both in there? Isn't it nice to have some actual depth, to have to leave out good cricketers?!

I would have Watling, while it's nice to have 2 openers who smash it, a guy who can get a 100 off 110 balls and hold the innings around him is really valuable.

But I'd also have no probs with any of Nicol/Baz/Gup/Ryder, but I don't think Nicol's bowling will be much of an asset
This is Kane Williamson at 3 for me. It would be ideal if he developed in to a good first drop and played that roll. I like Guptill/Ryder and McCullum at the top who put a lot of pressure on the opposition bowlers, Kane can play the role you're talking about if that doesn't come off.

This is an interesting debate, been awhile since we had two and sometimes three players who can play in most positions. Finding the right balance along with establishing our game plan is the key.

So excited about this South Africa tour, i like how it goes t20s, ODIs then Tests. I much prefer it in that order than ending on t20s.

I would like tests first up, preceded by all our test players having played a month of Plunket Shield cricket, but given that will NEVER happen and that we live in the real world, I agree that this is the best format.

Got my pitch-side seat. Weather meant to be good. Picking SA in this one, particularly if they bowl first.

Ooooh, thats a pretty looking diamond pattern TL. Not sure if i've seen that before. A bit odd for a circular field, but I like it - unique.

Wait what?! It's a 30yard circle? If so, I, and everyone in the clubs I have played at has been doing it wrong for my entire 'career'.

Looks like the ICC may have borrowed the Gillet brothers from the FFA to umpire this game.

Yeah 27.5. Your local groundsman should know that.

On reflection, I think you are right - I prefer patterns that differentiate the outfield/inner ring clearly.

Agree with you there - notice the ring is dotted and not fully marked...for that exact reason.

Guptill is just on an absolutely unreal streak of form at the moment. I can't remember anyone hit the ball so cleanly for such a consistent period.

I also haven't seen anyone hit as big a 6 in the stadium as the one into row O, let alone the one onto the roof a couple of balls later. That is a scarily big hit. I agree with Barry Richards - 'I think I could walk to the edge of the boundary and try to hit it from there and couldn't reach that!'

Craig mcmillan hit one out once. Think andrew symonds did or came close once as well. Both before my time here so unsure which games.

As a grounsman, pretty happy with that game. Think we might have made the boundaries a bit long straight though.
