You're not having a piss up on the pitch..?

Nah we [traditionally] do that after the game. That way if [when] anything goes wrong, the cameras have stopped rolling + we can get boozed as we like. I still can't understand why those W.A boofheads do it backwards.

Anyway I hope we win the toss and bowl first. Quite keen to see gillespie bowl at home against the africans. He was immense in that last game.

$2.45 for the draw is looking ok odds with the weather forecast the way it is. But then on the other hand, it only takes 5 sessions to bowl the black caps out.

Yeah i wouldn't bet on a draw. Weathet is looking okay for the best part of the five days now and I don't think it will be the easiest basin deck to bat on.

I know you are probably crazy busy TL but 12/12.30 start today? Maybe they take an early lunch at 12? Other Basin veterans, thoughts?

Pissed down for large parts of last night and early this morning as well as wet most of week. Not raining now, but a little cool with f**k all wind. Wet outfield will probably be the problem and at a guess will be lucky to see any play before tea today.

Umpire inspection at 10.45. My feeling is they will take an early lunch and maybe look for a 1/1.30 start.

That was really odd - no hot spot, no change in ball rotation but a clear noise as ball passed bat, and neither bat nor ball was near anything else. Apparently the timing of the noise and the distance from other surfaces was enough to not provide clear evidence of the nick.

And then Snicko (for some unknown reason not allowed to be used) goes on to prove it was actually before the ball passes the bat.

Bloody BCCI/ICC and the reluctance to use valid technology.

We aren't bowling well. To short, to wide, and to leg side.

Craig McMillian. How can one man be wrong so often?

"Ross Taylor has had a bob each way. If you are going to take the extra batsman why didn't they bat first?"

How about because the pitch has been covered for a week and there is a chance of seam movement before it turns into a belter, and it is better to have your three seamers use it to hopefully knock the top off early, rather than bowling on a road on day 2/3. Also doesn't expose your top order to potentially seaming track.

We really are bowling poorly. Still consistently to short.

I think it's because it's bouncier here so they try to use that to their advantage but s.a are comfortable with it. de Lange will be looking forward to rolling the arm over.

Having said this, I'd like to give some 'kudos' to Dion Nash, who I think is brilliant, both on the radio and on the cricket show.

Shane bond is also pretty good. I really don't know where to start with Macca, he is that bad. He is ruinning his integrity every time he speaks.

If I heard correctly there are going to be some Phoenix players on the Dilmah Tea Party (4:30pm - 4:50pm).

Edit: Brown and SigmUnd.

And Mark Richardson just called the Phoenix the top NZ team, waiting for a knitting circle jihad against him... Blair2012-03-24 16:09:24

Good signs for NZ. If we had some batsmen with grit and determination we might be able to draw from here. Hopefully Brownlie and Vettori can put on a 300 run partnership or something
