Thoughts on the Champions Trophy Squad?

Think Duffy could feel a bit hard done by. Was absolutely key in our T20 and ODI successes against Sri Lanka.

Duffy unlucky for sure, but who do you take our for him?
Conway has t be the luckiest one in the group given his recent form and being a non-contracted player.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Gods I hate losing to Auckland. They were unstoppable today.  Good to see a few Nix shirts in the crowd.

Look on the bright side, if cricket is spreading to West Africa it's good for the game in the long term

At the Cantebury vs Wellington double header this afternoon at Hagley. Quite a noticeable amount of Phoenix shirts (well like 6 I've spotted so far) in the crowd. Good effort making a big sport werkend effort of it, team!

Did well to finish second in a rigged tournament tbh.

Three for me, and two for them.

World cricket is basically run by the BCCI. Playing the Indians out of Dubai, it could have been a whole other story.

Black Caps did bloody well in the tourney plus the warm up games. Beating Pakistan 3 times, in Pakistan no mean feat.

Virat Kohli: We've always been in awe of what NZ can do with limited no. of players. They come in with a set plan. Every fielder knows where the bowler will bowl. They have immense belief in their skills, best fielding side. Huge shoutout to them. Sad to see a very good friend (Kane Williamson) on the losing side, only love between us.

Not Eden Park no 1, anyway.

You know this, I know this, NZC is stupid about it.

Maybe it's the cricketing purist in me, but I just don't think you should get rewarded with 6 runs because you can top edge a guy 50m and have it sail into the crowd.

We have a pretty decent amount of proper oval shaped cricketing grounds dotted around the place. Just use them!

Massive Crowd there tonight. Gotta be at least 1,000. Unless they're all hiding on the concourse.

Update, amend that to 2,000. Great anthems by the way.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Those Karachi bookmakers are a fickle breed.

Anyway, you'll all be pleased to know that The Littlest Hooligan is getting "Most Improved" in her Year 3 team. And that she waited until the last game of the season to consider that maybe she's a right-handed bat after all :D

Having had a moan about the lack of Chris Wood visible at the airport in Auckland, I should probably do the same for cricket. It’s apparently the second most followed sport in the world. We should have Hadlee, Crowe, Fleming, Vettori, Taylor, Boult, Williamson and co celebrated there somewhere too…If we want to ride it to some success we should have a decent ground for it. Get an All Whites scarf and a current ODI shirt, get a photo with a replica of the Women’s World Cup (seeing we’ve won that a couple of times) before you hop on your plane…

We’re diverse- we play at least 3 sports!

Though in the 80s we used to have Dame Susan, the runners, triathletes, the odd tennis or badminton success and others too.

Pakistan - gezz have they fallen.  Still have nightmares about NZ constantly playing them in the early-mid 90s - and getting completely obliterated.  Talk about a role-reversal.  Now playing Pakistan...it's virtually a breeze for us now...

For what it's worth if she feels more natural batting left handed encourage it, even if she is right handed in other aspects of her life. It's pretty normal and I've heard some people say it's the stance right handers should actually be taught. It means the top hand is the dominant one, there is a reason so many world class batsman bat left handed relative to the population.

From an article I found: "Right-handed international cricketers who have used a left-handed batting stance include the likes of Brian Lara, Clive Lloyd, David Gower, Adam Gilchrist, Alistair Cook, Matthew Hayden, David Warner and Justin Langer.".

https://www.cricket.com.au/news/3241082/research-shows-reverse-stance-pays

Although maybe her dominant hand is left and I'm preaching to someone already in the know!

So our highest ever test innings score is 715 against Bangladesh in Hamilton 2019.

So we can overtake that with just 115 more runs tonight!

That score of 715 appears to be the 18th highest of all time, so plenty more runs to get to move further up the list!

We have the lowest test score record in test history.

But really we do have enough time to have a go at the highest test score of 952.

Bat a maximum of 70 overs, put the foot down and go at say 5 runs an over and they are there. Probably sooner if Ravindra continues batting.

Allows both curent batsman a chance at 300 as well.

May as well fill your boots on this type of tour as many batsman used to do against NZ in their early years of test cricket.

I hope we don’t play the typical nice guys here but I have a terrible feeling we will.

Still leaves the best part of 200 overs at the Zimbabweans. And if you can’t get them out in that time, then you don’t deserve to win.

I think we all know they won’t last 100 anyway and the game would then be over in 4 days.

Also if they are batting after 200 overs, henry and fisher will have broken down anyway.

We should probably stop calling them the White Ferns since they haven't played test cricket in more than 20 years and might never do so again (absolute travesty that Bates and Devine will never get to play that format)

early to mid November earliest to start international games, mid or even worse early October, who are you kidding. NZC needs to give itself a good hard uppercut
