probably has very little to do with NZC, if Aussie/England or India come are scheduled to travel to your backyard you welcome them and play whenever they want.
Even playing cricket in December in Christchurch is a bit ambitious let alone October. Really hope this failed experiment of home "Spring" of cricket is a short lived one.

These T20 games start too late. It's 8:50pm and they're still got an over to go in the first innings.

agree, I'd prefer they started at 5 or 6pnm. But I imagine that would be too early in the am for the pommes.

Probably shouldn't try play cricket in October.

I think the theory is 6-9 pm. However, that’s for people getting down to a game close to their work in the evening. It doesn’t allow for international time zones.

Still Chief has lost two games by 1 goal. Still ahead of Victory and WSW on the table. A win or two away from the top four.
Not at all like he’s lost the first Ashes test inside two days. Two freaking days. Made me feel slightly better!

Test match looks like it will be done inside 3 days. 2 days of lost income for NZ Cricket.
Least people won't have to choose between the final day and the Nix.

tests can go that way though, remember the last one? 5 days but a draw! great cricket though.
Wellington's pitch just offered more to the bowlers, we could have made it go longer had we managed to bat better on day 2.

Was looking forward to watching at least one of the weekend days.
No demons in that pitch, just woeful batting from both teams and in particular the windies who were facing almost a third eleven attack minus one injured bowler in the second dig.

Windies deserve to lose after abandoning that run chase in the first test. Cowardly.

Been flat out week at work before the holidays but managed to catch a good twenty minutes of the boys settling in on my lunch break. Just got home in time to see Latham cut his way to the boundary and raise the bat. Is this the first time two kiwi openers have both tonned up together since the Rutherford debut along side Two metre Peter (who if I recall correctly became two century Peter in that match?)

Is anyone settling into their Boxing Day with the ashes? All time call fron Skull on the comms box just before.

Unbelievable day 20 wickets. Cricket Australia must be annoyed at the lost revenue due to test matches not going the distance. Test could be all over by end of play tomorrow.

Reading about, they left a full centimetre of grass on the pitch because the Melbourne heat is supposed to burn it all off by day 4, but there ain't no way this is going into day 4

definately a bowlers dream come true this deck, but the so called bazball (block/bash) approach is killing test cricket for England, they're not even that succesful at the one day game anymore.

Yep pretty much spot on. They want to be judged on the "big" series, which currently reads as such:
vs Australia (home) 2-2
vs Australia (away) 0-3 currently
vs India (home) 2-2
vs India (away) 1-4
Can only really describe that as failure.

Congrats to the Wellington Blaze who won the super smash final at Hagley Oval against Auckland Heart. Needing 8 runs off 3 balls, Jess Kerr smashed a six and four. They find a way to get it done, even without Mellie Kerr.

Meli Kerr is the most amazing cricketer. Not out 179.. Remarkable victory having to chase down 347 in Wellington, winning by 2 wickets. Just fantastic.

yeah she is simply brilliant, could easily end her career as the best women's player NZ has ever produced, her record now would be close I suspect.
At only 25 she has many years ahead of her if she wants to carry on.

An amazing game to watch. I got a large amount of it. And when they were 3 wickets down and over 200 to get, the writing was on the wall so to speak. But no, an excellent and gritty fight back. 350 runs in and 50 over game is a great result for any side and South Africa must've been thinking it was enough. One thing that did surprise me was how green the wicket was.

You couldn't *write* a better cricket hero than Melie Kerr. Not only definitely the greatest all-rounder New Zealand has ever produced (the female Hadlee), she came back from a mental health crisis with a determination to help others.
We were at Eden Park for the last T20 and the Littlest Hooligan hung out to try to get her autograph; we got Izzy Sharp, lol

Izzy Sharp is slated to be the next Suzie Devine with her batting ability - I understand she doesn't bowl (yet).
Amelia's story is really impressive, she is easily my favourite female cricketer.
