I also think this is appropriate once more:
My thoughts are: I don't think I have ever come across an organisation that strives so hard to shoot itself in the foot as New Zealand Cricket.

David White effectively blaming Ross Taylor for our recent ODI performances. Not the administration, the batting, or the revolving door of coaches and high performance programmes.
Interesting and somewhat inappropriate thing for Jesse Ryder to retweet...

The most telling thing about this is who is not talking.
Martin Crowe loves a mic in front of him and regaling tales of how 'back in my day'. Just two weeks ago, he was pouring his heart out on Cricinfo (I know he has tried to avoid the media with this cancer thing). Now there is not a peep. Glenn Turner too although both of those 2 are back in the fold so to speak.
Crowe recently criticised the batsmen including McCullum before the last test. Apparently McCullum had said 'pretty much no one listens to Martin Crowe these days'

Fuck this stupid game
Seriously though, take a bow NZC. Can't think of a shambles in sports admin this bad ever. NZF don't even come close.

Don't forget the premature ousting of Flemming and Astle, arguably two of our best ever batsmen. Although less admin and more John Bracewell, still think it kicked off a huge slide in the quality of our team's performances over that time.
Fuck this stupid game
Also given the way cricket is, you don't need to 'have the dressing room' as captain. To say that as a reason is pretty much saying that players have been deliberately under performing because Taylor is captain. In which case, it should be them who get the cut,not the captain. Too much player power in the team these days, and NZC are constantly pandering to it.
Swim NZs complete meltdown was pretty impressive.

Munro Neesham DeBoorder into the T20 team, Fulton gets a re-call, I thought we had stopped with the persistent re-calling of over 30's
Peter Fulton!?! :'(
Bruce Martin?!? First class batting average of 19, bowling average of 35. Astle gets one go, then dumped - the spinners roundabout continues.
Not convinced by Watling as keeper - you need the best keeper possible in tests, not a part timer. A fumbled sharp half chance stumping or dropped catch can make a HUGE difference in a test match.
Good to see new faces in the T20 team as its a good place to have a look at players and I don't really care.
So our possible test lineup:
McCullum
Guptill
Williamson
Brownlie
Flynn
Franklin
Watling
Bracewell
Southee
Patel
Boult
The only way I see Franklin not playing here is if Patel is dropped for Wagner/Martin and we don't play a spinner (which wouldn't surprise me) - we won't go into the tests with less than 4 seamers. If that happens we get the joy of seeing Fulton and his test average of 20 wearing the silver fern again. Yay.
That is a pissweak looking batting lineup. One player (McCullum) averages over 35, and that is by decimals. Next is a couple of guys averaging 32 :'(

Oh yeah, I know Franky is the man and all and should be in every limited overs team, but what has he done to be included in the test side? Slightly baffled by his inclusion again.

Yeah, I would include him in limited overs just as a batsman, we've seen his power on numerous occasions, I would not bowl him at all in any format. I just think his batting isn't good enough to be a specialist batsman in any format really, I might have to check his recent stats but I'm guessing when Dan comes back it'll be Franky who exits.

Mike Hesson says he told Ross Taylor that after the tour he will recommend to the board that Taylor will lose the captaincy and didn't mention anything about which form and always intended Taylor to continue captaining the tests. Taylor (pretty fairly) takes that to mean Taylor will lose captaincy in all forms. Ross Taylor is the one with communication issues?!
Edit: Even if this is true (which I don't believe) I still maintain that the split captaincy is a ridiculous idea when both players are playing in all forms.
Agreed on all fronts aitkenmike. If I was Taylor I'd be insulted by NZC offering him the test captaincy and calling it an olive branch.
Bruce Martin and Peter Fulton?
Mike Hesson........ oh boy.

The sooner NZ cricket understands that being a coach of the national team DOSNT make you the most important person, as a cricket team we may move forward.Take a look at Aussie and SA and try and tell me that its the coach that runs their teams.Clarke and Smith call the shots as have their past captains.
Maybe after they get smacked in SA they can pass on to the young fella Williamson and let him grow into just like Fleming did.Fleming was given it young and certainly didnt start well but by the end was considered one of the best in international cricket and i think Williamson could be developed in the same way.But Hesson would need to go first along with a shit load of others at the top of NZ cricket.
Shit and some of us think the Phoenix are hard to stay loyal to.LOL

Normo's coming home
I also wonder if NZC factored this scenario into their decision making process when giving hesson the job. I doubt it.

On the good side of things Ryder in sensational form for Welly tonight. I can understand why he wants to bide his time before wading back into the national side though!
He'll wait for his bro Rosco and they'll both come back in to smash the Poms round next year. Just getting it in writing now.
Fuck this stupid game
Hesson spent all his first test in India arguing in the match referee's box.
I'd love Bracewell back to be honest!
I hassled him at the time, but still...
I hated how he cut short Denis Aberhart's run when he had all his old champion Canterbury players and we were near the top of the test rankings.
But Bracewell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hesson!
any coach who can't have the confidence of Ross Taylor shouldn't be the coach. Taylor is our only genuine player of world class. There are other players who are capable of playing at that level but aren't or haven't been.
White should be culpable. What a mess. Losing one genuine hero in Wright should be tragic, losing two is carelessness.
ffs. Going into a test series over South Africa after a win on the back of Taylor's batting and this happens.
'We coulda been contenders' (well that's what I'm telling myself)
Sack Hesson. He's the only one thick enough to apply for a job under John Buchanan that John Wright couldn't have, no one else was rude enough to think if Wright couldn't do the job they could. Or is it Buchanan who is pushing McCullum for captain? I'd only respect him if he said he was quiting the IPL and going to play county cricket to get his game right. Even then he'd have to do bloody well in the tests and beg Rosco back.
That will be the next tui billboard you see around town for sure.
Ross Taylor Radio Sport interview
"My first meeting with the guy as coach [I said to my dad] I won't be in the job 12 months... and I was wrong it was 6 months."
Disgraceful.
Edit: Further listening. The 'thorough and comprehensive review of the Sri Lankan tour' done by New Zealand Cricket did not include talking to the tour captain even once. How in the name of hell can you do that!?
Edit: No more than 3 hours sleep a night on tour after 'that meeting' and still not sleeping.
Hesson reports to Buchanan, Buchanan supported Taylor, Hesson gives Buchanan the finger and gets rid of Taylor.
And David White sits there and says everything is sweet.
Emu.
