I think if Australia went to Sri Lanka right now, they'd get beaten.

Woah, Sri Lanka 4/14 and sangakarra has 10 of those runs.

As bad as the BlackCaps may be at least we never get run out in the first over going for two, thats just indefensible.

Three day shellackings: this is gonna happen to us over the next couple weeks.

Mitchell McClenaghan has a RPO of 6.33 in domestic one-day cricket. This time last year he was getting tonked by Brook Hatwell in Auckland A. He is now a BlackCap in all three formats.

Quoted for when it happens to us.

Three for me, and two for them.

Won the toss and batting first. Might be the only thing we will win this test series.

Why did we pick Franklin?

I don't know who is in the squad over there, who were the other options?

Could've given that McGlenahan a go.

Three for me, and two for them.

Thought I'd give it a go.  But that's me done for the series guys.

I'm very sorry.

28 for six. This reminds me of our third form team.

pretty simple really. One is a bowler the other is a "batsman/relief bowler".

Fuck this stupid game

Fuck we always knew we are shit but was shocked by the decision to bat. Way to make things harder than they already are. Just McCullum trying his "bold/brave style" of captaincy instead of just playing it smart. A good coach might have talked him out of it too.

Fuck this stupid game

Have they even bothered to have drinks?

If we don't make it to lunch and 50 runs I will never watch this team again

Obviously if Ross Taylors captaincy is the reason for us not scoring enough runs in the past, McCullum's must be pretty awful.  Maybe McCullum said swear words to the bowlers AND the batters and it hurt their feelings.

4th seamer.  He plays until we have a spinner that can bat, or we get away from this idea that you have to play four seamers in every game.

Not gonna slate Patel for that. Hanging around for a couple runs wasn't gonna help us. Least he tried to get some quick runs, and it took a great catch to get him.

And why do we bat first on a green seamer?  Is this because we want to be 'aggressive' or 'set the tone'?  Screw that.

Edit: Sorry TL, didn't see yours there.  Suffice to say, I concur.

YF batting 10, would we do a better job?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Couldn't do much worse than this sorry effort.

Three for me, and two for them.

I can't think of a test that has effectively been lost before drinks on the morning of the first day.  Until now.  Just pathetic.  Hesson out.

Better warm up the heavy roller.

I disagree a little.  IMO if you are a tail ender and you are batting with an actual batsman (or as close as one can get while wearing a silver fern) your job is simply to stick around and give him the opportunity to score runs.  While there is a batsman their, throwing away your wicket is not helping the team in any way.  If he was batting with Bracewell/other tailender I would agree with you.

I anyone actually surprised??? These players wanted to play for McCullum. They got what they wanted and look how its turned out.

They have no pride and they get paid and picked regardless. This is akin to the England team in 88 against the Windies where they need a total clean out to get rid of the fat cats playing on reputation and no substance. At least the new players may show a bit of pride.

Grumpy old bastard alert

A term very loosely used when referring to New Zealand batsmen of course.
