There should be an article in Salient in the next few weeks on the topic of whether domestic violence actually is acceptable in NZ society.

Veitch, 34, appeared in front of a public gallery packed mainly with media to face six counts of male assaults female and one count of injuring with reckless disregard.
The charges were dated between 2002 and 2006 and relate to him allegedly assaulting his former partner, Kristin Dunne-Powell.
The former TVNZ and Radio Sport presenter entered no plea and was remanded on bail, which was not opposed, to a pre-depositions hearing date of September 29.
Veitch's lawyer, Stuart Grieve, said the charges would be "strenuously defended".
Outside court, Veitch said he's more determined than ever to fight to clear his name and is looking forward to every chance for all information and all of the facts to be played out in the appropriate forum.
Veitch says while the past six weeks have been incredibly difficult and frustrating, he's relieved there's now "clarity" going forward.
Veitch, who was accompanied by his wife, says he's shocked and saddened that the saga has got this far.
Meanwhile, police say there has not been a public apology made over a message left on Tony Veitch's answer-phone.
A female detective who called Veitch's Herne Bay home on Thursday evening made the comment, "I bet he hasn't got a smile on his face like that anymore," after hearing a cheerful recorded message.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty says reports of a public apology are incorrect. She says it was an unfortunate and regrettable error and the detective is no longer working personally with Veitch.
