Most beautiful city, eh? Hmmm. No comment.

Don't think I'll make it. Even worse, I can't get down to the ROF on Sunday either.

I didn't vote for them!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

see the new rule they are trialing in the all star game?

if you kick the ball and retrieve it in your own half its 6 more tackles. interesting

Yeah, this exhibition match is always a good opportunity to trial new rules.  You never know - we may stumble across a gem of a rule that improves the game in some radical way.

With the new kick and regather in your own half to get a fresh set of 6 rule,I immediately thought the same thing Mark Richardson said on CGW. How far do you have to kick it?

Without a clearcut distance, you could effectively pass it to the halfback,a fair way back from the line,he'll put it on the ground, kick it  a few centimetres, pick it up and carry on.

Has to go 5 metres forward:

Rule Change: If a player in possession of the ball in his team's half of the field kicks the ball and it is re-gathered by him, or any member of his team, the referee shall signal 6 more tackles for the team in possession provided that:

- The ball has travelled at least 5 metres in a forward direction (towards the opponent's goal line).

- The kick has reached the point at which the previous play the ball (ruck) took place.

- The ball is regained by the attacking team prior to the half way mark. If the ball is kicked in the defensive half of the field but is regained in the attacking half, the referee shall not restart the tackle count.

Was that the strangest episode you've ever seen?  Hilariously funny, but utterly bizarre - especially the dance sequence!

More chips over the top perhaps?
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
You'd think that's what they're encouraging. Just a guess though.

Game is good how it is if you ask me.

Fuck this stupid game

about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Mind you, if you do chip it over the top and don't get possesion back the other team have 6 tackles in your half.

That's not really the point, though.  Innovation and rugby league have never been far apart.  Who knows - we may stumble across a great rule.  The 40/20 rule, for example, has been great for the game.

Good night for league tonight, All Star game at 9:30pm, then 4 UK League games back to back from 2am. The Wigan v St Helens game at 8am should be the pick of them.

Anyone else smell a Meninga?
E + R + O

about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
It smells more like an Anderson to me, personally.  I think the QRL will want to keep Meninga exclusively to them, especially now that the NSWRL have done the same thing with Stuart.  I've also heard mentions of McClennan, but I think Anderson is the most sensible and least complex decision.

If I were Meninga, rather than chasing an NRL job, I'd be chasing the national role.

Bennet?
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah, that's the fifth name being mentioned.  The idea of clearing the deck for a Bennett return certainly makes for a good headline.  Personally, I hope he stays at the Dragons.

The coaching merry-go-round is spinning once again!

5 more days can't wait for it to start.

No more nix fix's so I have to rely on the League now.

Benji Benji Benji. May I ask why u were even out that late a week before you are meant to be playing.
I guess if you put yourself in that position you are always under threat of getting into some sort of drama

"The incident occurred just hours after Marshall hosted Footy Rocks, a black-tie dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event was a fund-raising partnership between Marshall's foundation and the Children's Cancer Institute of Australia."

I think you can forgive him a late night since it was for charity.

Yeah a few hours after.......

I don't even think it is in Marshalls nature to punch some one

Benji's only human. I saw him having a good time at new years and it was pretty cool that everyone let him be and enjoy it. This incident sounds like the other people involved got what they wanted. Everyone has a breaking point and unfortunately that breaking point can drop after a few ales. Like I said, he's only human.

And at least it's not rape.

It's for a good cause and everything, so the more tickets sold the better.

I have to say though, that it pisses me off slightly that I pay full whack for tickets only for this mob to come along and knock them out cheaper.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I think you got this confused with Thursday night game?

I don't think the game on Saturday is for Chch??

I would be rather annoyed aswell.

Got my tickets for Thursday night, excited to see old players line up for Charity. Also want to go to Saturday game but will be going home, so won't be in Auckland.

Oops! My bad. Thought it was for Thursday's game. Although, they did the same with the North Harbour trial as well, I think.

I'm a season ticket holder so don't really have that much of a problem with them doing it for NRL games. 19,000 tickets sold for Eden Park at the last count. Need 25K to break even apparently.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Hopefully. 19K was the last I heard and I think that was late last week, so I'd be looking at 30K.
