I think somewhere in Neil's book of the dead there is reference to John Cooper Smelly Bottom.

Very well known in Stockport around 1991 - The Midwich Cuckoos. Went to their first concert at The Green Room in Manchester. The memories are being viewed through a haze of resin & alcohol! Baby you're a rich man & Show Me are the stand outs for me

I had his album (vinyl) with Beasley St and Chicken Town or whatever.

I think it was (p)Rick who called hm JC Smelley Bottom  - maybe because he was more of the People's Poet.

I just posted UK Squeeze Cool for Cats on the "Raining Datsun Cogs" fred and then immediately thought of Buggles "Video Killed the radio Star" also from 1979.

That got me thinking of Donna Summer  and I realised that for some reason 1979 was a good year for music in my eyes.

Ian Drury & The Blockheads, Blondie, Boomtown Rats, Pink Floyd, Anita Ward and Amy Stewart and many others:

Must have been the impressionable teenage years or summ'at  (oh Donna...)

Actually, just looking at how today's pop stars look and sound, they pretty much do make music EXACTLY like they used to. I swear, watching music videos I sometimes feel I've woken up back in 1987...

I rarely ever see music vids these days unless someone sends me a youtube link as dont watch any mainstream music shows on tv and hardly ever pay attention to things with lyrics but the few i stumble across look nothing like the 80's or 90's

this is the type of music i like these days  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVxe5NIABsI&feature=channel
